Re: Tony McVey 1/30 Running TRex

You will note that I colored each wart on the snout individually. Gives it character (I hope.) You gave it character as well as the worst case of Herpes I've ever seen!  Just kidding, I love this kit. I went the boring route with mine years ago and gave it a faux bronze paintjob. I'm t...

This turned out so well, I'm really impressed by how much work you've put into this. Please put me down for one!

I would love to see a whole line of these. The style is fantastic! I can't wait to see more!

Re: 1/12th scale Velociraptor posable kit (in- progress) 10/14

Well, I missed the deadline for the preorder, but I felt like chiming in on this. I love this style, and the articulation makes it even better. It instantly reminded me of the style of the Xtractaurs line of dinosaur toys, but yours is so much better in terms of both accuracy and articulation. http:...

Try asking this in the Tar Pit section-- there are lots of dinosaur sculptors that will help you over there. Good luck!

Re: Filling vinyl ?

Fruit Of The Loom or Hanes? Just wondering which ones work better with vinyl. Well, they had some fruity stains, so I'm gonna go with "the Loom"..... :D Honestly, they weren't in my possession long enough for me to tell-- one of my quickest trips to the garbage ever! I just remember askin...

Re: Filling vinyl ?

Years back I bought a Horizon JP Raptor from a friend and decided to strip it and modify the pose. He told me it was stuffed with plastic bags, but he forgot to mention it also contained an old pair of his underwear!

Whatever works, right?

Re: Can you tint Aves Apoxy Sculpt with color?

I have mixed pastel powder into putty before and it worked extremely well. I have a set of artist's pastels, and simply rubbed a stick over a piece of sandpaper to produce the powder. I mixed this into the epoxy putty and it was a perfect match to the color of vinyl I was working with. Simple soluti...

Re: BETTIE PAGE IN ORBIT

You did a great job with this kit! I've been a huge Bettie fan ever since reading the Rocketeer. I once bought a copy of "orbit" directly from Screamin', I remember being so pumped for it to arrive.... sadly it was the worst nightmare of resin I've ever seen! It was my first resin kit, and...

Re: Metalic paint..!!!

Saint, you may want to ask this in the Garage section of the Clubhouse, there are painters there who probably know a lot more about paints than here in the Sculptors' section.

Some of the best looking results I've seen are from a brand of paints called Alclad http://www.alclad2.com

Good luck!

Re: Bike from AKIRA?

McFarlane toys produced an action figure of Kaneda and his bike back in 2000, I believe. Maybe you can find one of those on eBay to repaint? I have no idea what the detail would be like though, as I never bought the figure.

Mike, thanks so much for that reply! What a rare treat it is to get the inside scoop from the man who was there! Re: Jurrassic Park Accuracy

Mike, I had read something years ago that your Daspletosaurus sculpture was created out of your frustration at not being allowed to sculpt an accurate T rex for JP. Is that story true? Your Daspletosaurus is my favorite therapod sculpture, and I still kick myself for never having picked up a resin c...

Thanks for the advice ignatz! I've heard of people using Silly Putty, but I haven't seen it in stores in my area. The Parafilm I've never heard of and had to Google, but both sound like better alternatives than the latex masking.
