Re: Nosferatu 2024

Bummer you didn't like it more. I loved it. I think the artistry behind it is absolutely top tier, especially the visuals, music, and sound. I watched it in a theater. However, while I always recommend seeing an important movie in the theater over watching it at home, I believe this to be especially...

Re: Rest in piece Todd Carolan

I just finished this peace by him June. It was the first and only kit I have of his. I was looking forward to more. I love how expressive this sculpt is. It's a favorite.

Re: Wooden Display Base Questions

Not sure what you mean by a radius jig. If I were going to rout a piece of wood for a base and put a radius on the edges, I would use a bit with a guide bearing and let the piece guide the router. If you have a router table, then even better. Drop in a starting pin, and just rotate you base against...

Re: Wooden Display Base Questions

I paint large scale busts and use threaded rod to fix them to my wooden bases, I think the rod I use is about 6mm but you can buy all different sizes at a hardware store. I drill a hole in the bottom of the bust then a hole in the wooden base, cut a section of rod that fits and epoxy ( I use araldi...

Re: Wooden Display Base Questions

The advice given in this thread still applies even in your personal use case. You just have to scale up For that 1/4 scale bust, just make a really big pin. Probably out of something like allthread. You can see in this WIP page for one of my builds how I used bolts in wooden base to hold a resin bu...

Re: Wooden Display Base Questions

Thanks for the reply guys, but I'm referring to hand -made Wooden Display Bases, not the base supplied with the model. For example, I'm building an American Werewolf in London Bust by MVT. The Figure and the base are both painted and pinned together. I am going to attach the model (and its base) to ...

Wooden Display Base Questions

I'm a total novice at woodworking. But I'm learning. I asked a question about types of wood to use a while back, and that set me in motion toward woodworking classes. Which have been great fun, and I'm learning a ton. But I've got a long way to go, and those classes only indirectly apply to making d...

Happy Halloween, everyone. In the mood for a short creep tonight? Here's a link to my last horror short called Over the Shoulder. https://youtu.be/7uMfe56OTYY I made it a couple years ago, but it never got the love I felt it deserved. I hope you enjoy it! And now I've begun prepping to shoot the ne...

Gunther from The Funhouse

My first time posting pics of my models in this forum (though I have posted some on FB). Finally figured out how to post pics here. Gunther from The Funhouse, sculpted by Mark Van Tine, produced by Paul Gill for Gillman Productions. Painted in Acrylic, Enamel, Oils, and artist's water colors. I had ...

Re: How was the Crowne Plaza?

I ordered meatloaf take out at the bar, which is the only way to order take out. It does not come with anything. Even fries are an extra. They were busy. Every five-ten minutes or so a server would tell me that my order was up next. For 55 minutes! I was starving but didn't want to lose my parking ...

Re: Alien Romulus

If you do rewatch Aliens, try to watch the Director's Cut. Especially if you've never seen it. This is my preferred version now. It's better, with the exception of one scene.

"Have you seen the model by Stann Arts of Bruce the shark? What a brilliant piece of work!" I have! It's on my very long "wanted list". You fail to mention an entire theme of Aliens! Motherhood. Ripley loses a daughter and gains another, and does everything in her power to love a...

Re: Alien Romulus

For most of my life I've considered Alien and Aliens to be pretty equal. And I absolutely love both. But in recent years, and my most recent viewing in prepping for Romulus, I've come to the conclusion that Aliens just offers more as a narrative film. It's perfect. Both are perfect. But Aliens is ju...
