Re: Stay strong Canada
Tv like the history channel and discovery amongst others started showing programs about mermaids being real. How ancient civilizations where all built by aliens etc. And that made it's way into daily life where some dip sticks opinions are as valid as science. More dangerous perhaps is when a recog...

This resembles the demon from "Night of the Demon" AKA "Curse of the Demon".

Re: === CLASSIC movies/TV you've watched during lockdown
Recently binged on "Love and Curses" AKA "She Wolf of London". I pretty decent and amusing TV series of its time.
Maybe not a classic unless you were a fan back in the day.
Now I'm re-watching "LEXX", working on the third season.

Re: === CLASSIC movies/TV you've watched during lockdown
Actually the two legged weres are "Wolf men". " Werewolves" turn into full fledged wolves and run on four legs. I suspect that the whole Werewolf mythology is based on the Norse tradition of declaring an outlawed murderer as a "Wolf's Head" meaning he was no longer a pa...

Re: Doctor (Jodie) Who with spoilers.
Would have worked better if Whittaker were a completely different Time Lord altogether. She was just never the Doctor. Sad to say I haven't cared for most of the female characters on Dr Who other than a few of the Companions and not all of them. Didn't care much for some of the male characters eithe...

Re: William Smith Passes.
I had wondered why Smith was cast as a Russian officer in the film Red Dawn, then I found out he was raised by his Russian grandmother and was fluent in Russian. So knowledgeable of Russian languages (they speak several, a French dialect being very common) he was assigned to electronic surveillance ...

Loaded "Forbidden Planet" in the DVD player , but haven't felt like watching it just yet. That is one film that never gets old. Found the old short run "Star Cops" TV series on Youtube and watched all 9 existing eps. They should reboot that series. The way the first series ended ...

... The hollow earth stuff didn't do much for me. If the movie explains what makes all that light in the center of Earth, I missed it. ... I thought I saw something that I interpreted as the molten center of the earth that was emitting the light. https://i.postimg.cc/mDvZYBQ8/Screenshot-1.png I nev...

Re: Back from vacation
What a great trip, sadly I've not yet seen most of these places. That's so disappointing about Meteor Crater. I'd always wanted to see that, not so much now. Not to distract from all the amazing natural beauty, there are two museums in Tucson that I found well worth the time. One is the Pima Air Mu...

Looks to me like someone used a screen grab from a monster movie then did a painting over it.
The original photo probably bore little resemblance to the finished product.

Re: Midway
Having watched action clips from the movie I have mixed feelings about this one. The CGI is very well done, but not that much better than the battle scenes of the reenactments of Enterprise battles on the Quest channel that I've seen in recent years, those are of course more than just a cut above wh...

I read basically the entire plot and descriptions of the major scenes in some online review. Sounds okay but after all the spoilers I ran across I figure I'll wait till it hits cable, which shouldn't be that long. Sounds promising since it seems to go beyond the average one trick pony type of film w...

Well I hate going to the grocery store at the best of times so I normally stock up on TP and paper towels enough to last two months at a time, so I've got enough to do for awhile. Did go out Monday to stock up on pet foods, five cats and a 120 lb dog, and cat litter. Local store wasn't that crowded ...

I remember hearing about that but never read it. Shatner's about to turn 89, I doubt we'll see him in Starfleet uniform again. If its the novel I remember it tells a great deal more about the Borg than was ever revealed by the various TV incarnations. The description of Borg heavy construction equi...
