Thanks for the link Trev :thumb2: Ohio huh - your neck of the woods?

Now THAT is an obituary.

Just beautifully, BEAUTIFULLY written - so much love, appreciation, and justifiable pride from Danya about the man she shared her life with   =D> =D> =D>

Gaining a better insight into Mike from this makes me regret all the more that our paths never crossed - I have the sneaking suspicion that our sense-of-humour would have created common ground, let-alone the kits & the music.

Only 66 - my goodness. So young.

Respect.

Though it is the same state, not quite my neck of the woods.
I'm in the NE corner, while Columbus is in the middle of the state.
It is where my daughter lives though, so I am sure she is waiting for news on services.

Absolutely. Brilliantly said. If we all could be remembered just like that.

Rest in Peace Mike

Nice art deco style too it.
Mike , was one of a kind.
Mike used to offer these in a bronze finish - he also reused the bas-relief figures on this plaque and offered the in several smaller vignettes.

Thanks Trev.

Thanks Todd - I pulled this as soon as you posted but forgot to thank you - apologies.

Folks - if you've got this - I highly recommend reading / re-reading it. If you haven't got it - it's still available from the AFM website - http://www.amazingmodeler.com/backissues.html

Issue # 47 from 2010, pages 50/51/52/53/54/55.

SIX pages by Terry & Mike that tell a great story of their friendship, how they met, Mike's history in TONS of detail. It's REALLY well written & presented, funny, inspirational, charming, and the close bond between them is obvious throughout. I learned a lot.

It also includes some of the pics Wonderfest have just put up on Facebook (per Trev's post).

I've shown the cover (above) and a scan of page 50 below as a taster, but not the rest for obvious reasons.

The more I find out about Mike, the more I realise what a great guy he was, and how fortunate we were to have him in the community.

Osamu Kishikawa's new book on Frankenstein vs Baragon and War of the Gargantuas has been dedicated to the memory of Mike Parks. I will try to post a picture of the dedication page later.

Oh yeah.
They did a thing Friday night.
And on Sunday they had an hour long discussion about him with a slideshow playing the whole time.
After that, they played the video that they premiered on Friday night.

IT was very well done.
He meant a lot, to a lot of people.

The display of Mike's work in the Contest Room was amazing! I got some good pictures of it but can't seem to post them.
