Mike Parks R.I.P.

#1 Post by needful1one »

I have just learned the long time Garage Kit legend Mike Parks passed away peacefully at his home last night. Mike was a guy that had no enemies and was loved by all those he came in contact with. He was a true Garage Kit legend and will be missed by all.

God Bless Mike

Sad news indeed.

Mike was one of the best guys around.
I feel it was honor to have known him and be able to call him a friend.

He will be missed.

Very sad news. A true pioneer of the hobby.

His Tiny Terrors Helvis was one of the very first resin kits I ever got way back in the early 90's

I'm going to dig out issue 47 of Amazing Figure Modeler and re-read Terry Webb's wonderful profile of Mike. One of our hobby's true innovators.

I didn't know the man personally but his work is legend and from all accounts a very nice person.
My condolences to his surviving family.

I've got a ton of his work too. I loved his tiny terrors and the humor he brought to them. No other superdeforms worked for me. Others were always too cute, or trite, or goofy. His were just right.
He was always a pleasure to speak with too. Never too busy for a chat about things.
I'll miss him at wonderfest.

Mike was one of the first people I met in this business. I was just a dumb kid, but he talked to me like an equal. Always super nice.
The very first kit I ever painted was one of his Dead Head kits- the one with the axe in the head- when I was about 15. A local horror collector hired me to paint it for him.
