Frank-Holger wrote:Yep, I am rrready for action  ! But how do you get those ideas? Sitting around and making some sketches on the painting board or geting a lighning hit, like THIS IS IT! Sometimes I do brainstorming with my figures and think hours what I could change or make to have some interesting to come up with... Always cool to know how fellow modelers design!

Thanks Frank!
Model Kits give me ideas and inspire me to build. I also get inspired seeing models built by other people. That usually makes me want to build. I have enough ideas & models to keep me busy for a long time... 8)

Wet Paint!

I applied Filler/Primer to all of the parts and let them dry in the Sunshine. The lower half of RRRobot looks like Metal so I sprayed it with Tamiya Silver Leaf.

Image

The top half of RRRobot looks like it could be made from Fiberglass or maybe an exotic mix of Kelver and Graphite. I painted the top half with Testors Diamond Dust Metalflake Paint.

RRRobot's Got Color!

I started by hand painting Vallejo Paints Flat Black with a rectangular brush. Then I started hand painting some Flat Red Vallejo Paint.

Image

Then I added more Red. This paint covers very well and doesn't show brush strokes too much. It also wipes off with a wet Q-Tip before it dries and some small mistakes can be rubbed off with a tooth pick after it's dry. After the paint dried I sprayed on a coat of Testors Glosscote.

Pick Painting!

Sometimes I have troubles trying to paint small details with a brush. So I use a Wooden Tooth Pick to apply the paint. This technique works very well for dots, like for rivets or nail heads. I use tooth picks for gluing too, very useful tool.

Image

After painting the indentations on this part, I added plastic Rhinestones, available at most craft stores.

Looks very good at all! The paint added that special "Ira style" to it and I think, battle damage does not work on this kit! Great work! And those Rhine stones, hell, I could use them in an upcoming Uncle Scrooge Diorama with massive jewlery in it!

More Pick Painting!

I ended up using a Toothpick for the Vents and the engraved designs on the Arm Sections. As long as there is a ridge or line to follow the toothpicks work very well. You can also use a toothpick to rub off semi-dry acrylic paint.

Arm Details...

I cut some Brass Screen to fit the Slots I cut out earlier. Then I pushed the Screen against the inside of the Slot until it formed to the shape of the Slot. Next I glued it inside the Slot.

Image

Inner Arm Detail...
I sprayed the Inner Arm Part with Flat Black and the Cylinders with Vallejo's Red and Yellow. I also added a strip of Metal Studs from Auto Graphics RC Stickers.

Image

Upper Arm Detail...
I painted some Steel and Flat Black details. Then I added 3 strips of Metal Studs from the RC Stickers.

BiG Arms!

I did some more painting on the Arm Parts. Then I applied a black wash and a spray of Testors Glosscote.

RRRobot Pilot!

Dolores painted this Tamiya Driver for me about 15 years ago. Looks like a perfect candidate to control RRRobot!

Had to give him a trim to fit inside RRRobot.

Cookies!

I'm starting on the Cockpit for RRRobot. I found a tray from a package of Cookies that should work just fine...

Image

I cut the end off of the Cookie Tray and sprayed it with DupliColor Filler/Primer. I am also going to use part of this Seat that I found in a 12th Scale 57 Chevy Box.

Pilots Seat!

I cut the top from the Chevy Seat and fit it to the Pilots Back & Head.

Image

I added 2 strips of square Plastic Tubing to the front edge of the Pilots platform. This will make attaching to RRRobot easy. I also painted the Seat Back.

Image

Here is the Pilot with the Seat Back attached.
