Smooth Sides!

I removed the Wheel Flares with Sanding Disk in a Dremel Tool. Then I used a Sanding Stick to flatten the wheel areas down.

Image

I cut pieces of sheet plastic to fit in the Wheel Cut Outs and glued them in place.

Image

Next I added a small plastic strip to each side right under the front wheel openings.

Side Strips!

I decided to add a Strip of Plastic on the inside edge of the Beast Body as shown. These Strips will give me enough plastic so that I can to round off the bottom edges of the Body.

Image

Here are both Strips in place.

BiG Wide Slicks in the Back and Skinny's up Front!

I found these Slicks in an AMT Dragster kit and the front tires are from the AMT Double Dragster Kit. I used a Sanding Board to sand the seam off the Tires.

Image

The Rear Wheels for the Slicks included a couple of Moon Discs and I'm using the Double Dragster Spoke Wheels up front.

Less Roll Pan!

The Roll Pan is a little too big for the Beast...

Image

I cut the excess Roll Pan off with a Cut-Off Wheel and Sanding Sticks.

Sanding...

I got most of the Sanding done on the Body.

Image

I'm going to work on the Chassis and Engine for awhile. I've been thinking about Chopping the Top, but I'll have to wait until the Chassis and Engine are Mocked-Up to see if there is enough room for Chopping...

A Cage For The Beast!

Before I started the Roll Cage, I added 4 lengths of Square Tubing to extend the Motor Mounts.

Image

I made the first section of the Cage from Bendable Plastic Rod. I measured , Bent and Glued it in place.

Image

I made the 2 Support Bars from Plastic Tubing and glued them in place as shown.

I made the little front section from Bendable Plastic Rod. Measured , Bent and Glued it in place.

Wow, a fat cage, so to say! Looks good. And here you will install the engine? Very promising, all in all!

More Bars!

Next, I cut 2 lengths of Tubing and glued them between the Roll Bars.

Image

Then I added 2 more on the Front.

Image

After trimming the mounts from the bottom of the Seat, looks like we have enough room for the Driver.

Image

We have plenty of room for the Engine too. Good News! There is enough room to do a Very Serious Top Chop later...

Chopping The Top!

After finishing the Roll Cage I found that I could remove about 3/16 of an inch from the Top. I used 3/16" masking tape as a Template for the 2 Cut Lines. I drew the lines with a Sharpie.

Image

I cut out the areas between the lines with a Cut-Off Wheel.

Image

I Sanded the Cut Edges smooth on a Sheet of 120 Grade Sandpaper. I simply Sanded the edges on a the Sandpaper on a flat surface.

Image

I glued the body halves together with Zap-A-Gap, Green Label.

Cut The Front!

The front of the Beast looked too wide after the Top Chop. So I marked it for some Cutting.

Image

I cut out the slot with a Cut-Off Wheel.

Image

Glued it back together with Zap-A-Gap. That's more like it...

Rear Window...

I forgot to mention I wanted to enlarge the Rear Window.

Image

I cut out the Window with a Cut-Off Wheel. Then I cleaned it up with an X-Acto Knife, Sanding Boards and a File.

Image

Here it is after the Top Chop.

Tight Fit!

After narrowing the front end, I realized I needed to hollow out the Body a bit to Fit the Chassis inside. I used a Drum Sander in the Dremel Tool to grind down the plastic strip and high spots in the body.

Image

Still need to remove a little more from the inside to fit the Chassis in.

Image

I had to do some Heavy Sanding on the Chassis too but I finally got a Great Fit!
