MOON BEAST! 12 Cylinder, 2000 HP Drag Strip Terror! 11-22-14

New Front Axle!

Unfortunately I broke the Pie Wagon Axle so I ended up using the Axle Parts from Revell's 32 Ford Roadster. I stripped the chrome and sprayed them with Tamiya Silver Leaf.

Image

After some minor modifications the 32 Axle fits in real nice.

Moon Discs!

I added modified Stabilizer Bars from Revell's 32 Ford to the Rear End.

Image

I glued Moon Discs in the Rear Wheels and then glued the Rear Wheels & Tires in place.

After removing the Seat Mounts, I added an old Revell Racing Seat. Than I attached the Scoop. The Gauges are from the parts box.

MOON TANKS!
Moon Tanks were very popular in the 1960's, they did have Gas Lines. When I build a car model I try to hide as much of the lines, hose or cables as possible. I hide them pretty well, can you see them? 8)

Prime Time Mock-Up!

The Body work is Finished! I sprayed on one last coat of Gray Primer for a even cover coat, then I sprayed White Primer over the Gray. This will be a good base coat for the Yellow.

Camel Yellow!

I sprayed a couple light coats of Tamiya "Camel Yellow" on the Beast.

Image

Then I sprayed on a couple heavier coats of Yellow.

After the Yellow Dries, I'll start the Black!

Ah, now I can imagine what MOON TANKS are ("fuel" for driving even faster!), cool, Gaslines, hehe, I would do them that one can see it. You know, I love cables, lines and such stuff.

The yellow comes out great! Will you use decals??

Paint It Black!

I painted the inside of the Body with Flat Black, Water Base Acrylic, from Vallejo Paint. Any Acrylic mistakes can be wiped off the Yellow Paint with a wet Q-tip.

Two Tone!

I decided to do the Windows Section in Black. I am going to hand paint the area with Flat Black Vallejo Paint. I started by laying a strip of stripping Tape along the Window Line. This gives me a straight line between the colors.

Image

Next I hand painted the area, leaving the Stripping Tape in place.

We Have A Driver!

The Driver is a Tamiya Rally Driver, except his head, it was from the parts box. I painted him with Tamiya Camel Yellow and then applied a Black Wash.

Side View. I also added a couple of Fire Extinguishers and painted them Red & Silver.

More MOON Decals!

I added the Big MOON Decal on the front with a "GO! MOON" below it. I also added some small Detail & Sponsor Decals to the Engine & Chassis.

Image

I brushed Testors Dullcote over the MOON Decals so that they blend in with the Flat Black. I also added some little Decals to the Driver and will probably add more later.

Even More MOON Decals!

Found more MOON Decals! Soon after the Decals dried it started raining, the first storm in a series of 4 or 5, and the first we have had in a while. So I took the Body out to the shop and sprayed some Glosscote over the Body and put it in the Dehydrator, before the humidity got to high from the rain.

Image

Fortunately the Glosscote worked Great! Side View...
