I shelved this kit after amassing the ref material and finding all the inaccuracies. I started on the detailing, but got distracted so I moved on to something else.
With the new kit coming out, there's no reason not to just build this and stick on the ceiling, out of sight, out of mind.
I already made a pattern to vacuform a properly pitched windscreen as opposed to the kit vertical one, so I made one quickly.
I also redid the decking detail with styrene strip stock, just need to clean it up.
Test fit of the new screen:
And finally, I bailed n the idea of super detailing the cockpit and sculpting a 1/144 Bowman and Poole and instead just soldered the ParaGraphix PE I had on hand.
After some messing around finishing off the command module, I'm just going to plow ahead with the rest. Wish me luck...

Re: Back at the Discovery.
Looking good! I was holding out for the SSM resin interior, but the Paragrafix one looks great!

Re: Back at the Discovery.
Kaiyodo is coming out with an even larger styrene kit of the Discovery ship from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It'll be 63" as opposed to the 41" long Moebius kit.

Thanks Steven, any idea when the release date will be? Is there a link that has more information on the proposed kit?

Re: Back at the Discovery.
Looking good so far. Can I ask if you are planning to light the command module. If you are, how do you plan on running the wiring? I’m trying to figure that out for mine...
Oh also, with regard to the Paragraphix cockpit PE, you might be might be interested in this. I’ve got my set on order:
