Moebius Green Lantern

#1 Post by ignatz »

This one came in today. Very nice diorama of GL slapping down a giant robot.
GREAT box art! A classic rendition in my book!
Image

Parts count is low. 16 in emerald green plastic (what else?), and 2 in clear green.
Image

The monster robot base has a great, cool, retro feel to it. Although I'm not thrilled with the happy little smirk it has.
Image

Cool nameplate to invoke all things "Aurora".
Image

I wasn't sure how the transparent green "ring energy" effect would work but I think it came off really well. The fact that the whole effect is but 2 parts really help. No seam lines or other molding artifacts to deal with.
Image

Here's the whole kit dryfitted together. I glued most of GL together though. Very easy to put together and minimal putty work will be needed. I wish I could see more of GL's face, but overall this is a very dynamic diorama.
Image

I've already opened up the robot's eyes and enlarged the aperture in it's chest beam with the intent of adding some lighting effects.
Image

Well that's it for now. Busy, busy, busy. THIS monster also arrived on my doorstep today. But that's another horror-story!

Now you@ve got your hands on one .Do you think it's possible to light him from the ring?

Yeah. I think I'm going to have the LED up where the ring would be, or as near as possible, and then run wires down to the base. I have some very thin motor winding wire which might work. maybe If I paint it green...

Started on GL. Just got his head done, now onto the rest of the costume!

Also I modified the robot a bit for lighting, plus I didn't like the smiley mouth on it.

Well, it's still green, isn't it? Yeah. I think the jaw is beefier than GL has been drawn, but you know how that goes.

Hey Terry! Didn't know you did the box art. Top notch, man!

Lot of progress. I'm nearly finished with GL. All I have to do is paint the nameplate and do his chest emblem (this is where I usually screw up! I wish there was a precut mask for this sort of thing). Here's a shot of the nearly completed base. I'm waiting on rivets to put into the collar around his chest beam. After that, all that's left to do is figure out the lighting!

Looks great so far. I have to admit I'm not really a big superhero fan but Moebius did well with this piece.

What scale is the figure? Is it in scale with the Iron Man?

It's 1/12 scale Mike. So it's a lot smaller than the Iron-Man figure, but you get a pretty cool diorama base.
