Finished - Dark Shadows display.

#1 Post by Rob P. »

This has definitely been a long drawn out project! However it was worth it. After building Barnabas, and then Quentin each with their own custom base, I decided to put a Dark Shadows nameplate to good use that Tom Parker sent me from Cult of Personality (Thanks Tom!). Utilizing a Monogram Frankenstein gravestone, and grass from the Dracula kit and a lizard from the MPC Dark Shadows kit, I started figuring every thing out on the same Maxwell house coffee lid that I used for the first two models. As I laid it out, I felt something was missing, and decided it needed a bit more scare factor. So, I added a skull face from the Dencom Skeleton kit onto the gravestone, to which I used a facial looking one for the grin. I did however dremel out the eye balls as I think that looked better. Tucked away inside all this is a special light harness that Matt at Starlighting projects made for me (Thanks Matt!). Lighting this up in the dark was planned from the git go and adds another dimension to displaying it all!

The nameplate display is cool - ties it all together.

Perfect.... Love the video.

A great idea and a very cool display piece, everything about this is built and painted exceptionally well... and the lighting just ties it all
together nicely. :thumb: :thumb:

Great stuff Rob... And just in time for Halloween too! :vampire:

Thank you Gentleman for the compliments. Mark M. - I am pretty happy with the results, except, I think I could do better on Barnabas head. I have the COPP replacement and may swap that out later on. He was built first and I can tell, as it was over a year ago that I built him, and I have been getting a little better at faces in that time. At least I think so!
