Godzillas Go Cart Aurora/ ebay insanity

#1 Post by scuzzfink85 »

I seen this on ebay? I went hobby talk because I was bored
being the site was down friggen twelve thousand dollars
Partially assembled What what is wrong with those bidders
I seen that kit go for 200.00 I have reissue I like it.
But, those bidders should be banned if they don't pay..
Totally ridiculous behavior.. give that kind of money
to charity .. please..
Nostalgia can be a bad thing, especially when you are led by it.

I doubt an original went for $200 usually around $5000 is tops. But you had 2 bidders that must have had deep pockets and they both wanted it. Doesn't bother me if kits go sky-high, I just wish I could have been the seller! Original Go Carts in a decent box with instructions and all the pieces don't pop up all the time, guess the seller was lucky 2 guys had an interest at the same time. With only 1 serious bidder it would have went for much less.

It could have went higher - last bidder had 2 $9600 bids so he had a higher bid in than what won- if other guy had bid again I bet it would have topped $10K

I am the seller, to speak the truth I will believed it when my paypal will be credited ,me too I don't understand the ending price.
my wildest dream was to get like 2k for it I wanted to finance the production of my new kit with it but if I really get that money well I am set for more.
by way the transport cost is like 60$ insured with tracking (EMS) so I guess that not an issue when you pay that kind of money for a kit :)

The only one I saw is the one I brought, I got lucky I guess, I was planning to build it like the rest of my aurora collection but I realized I had no more the time for it ,my own stuff takes all my modeling time so I put the build in a halt also the big quake few years ago did some damage on my display models so I have to repair that too ...
I will sell the kits I didn't start , I am pretty sure I will regret it but the good side is I can restart collecting them again maybe take a different direction this time buying old painted kits and restore them that could be fun and not expensive will see .

So my buddy that works here with us (Jay Adams) I was just showing him this and he is not surprised at all to see it go for that. He worked for Monogram back in the 80's and he said he actually had two of these kits and he sold the pair of them for 3 grand in 1987. He said the guy that he sold them to turned right around and sold one of them to Mark Hamill for 5 grand (who knew Hamill was a modeler??)

Apparently there were a few Aurora kits that brought a good bit of money during that time (and obviously still do today!)

Just got a mail from the bidder who told me he can login to his paypal because he is out of the country and asked me to wait a week ahahah I am a nice guy and I will give him the benefit of the doubt but looks like a complex story with too much details anyway the other bidder contacted me also ... so I hope there is not only delusional people on Ebay I didn't ask for that crazy bid war if it turns to be a waste of my time I will keep it and sell the kits with a less value to avoid that kind of thing.

I have questions for the specialists,I know Monarch had plans to make the moon suit but only the box was made or the there also a prototype/master ?
I don't plan to make it as an injection kit of course even if I sell the godzilla it won't be enough money for it but I want to make it as a resin kit at the same scale than my vintage diving suit (1/12) ,the sculpting is already started ,I wanted to know if there is rumors of some company that will release it ? I really want to do it as a kit but if there is one in the making I will just keep mine without releasing it.

There was never a prototype made of the Moon Suit....
This is one kit I had hoped Monarch would have made.... and I still do......

That Glow Godzilla does have a nice sealed box so I guess a picky collector might pay that much. Me? NO WAY!!!
