Scales

#1 Post by scuzzfink85 »

I have the Sinbad kit by Monarch and the Tarzan kit by Pegasus..
The head sizes are same and so is the height of them
Sinbad is 1/8 and Tarzan is 1/9 scale.. and Moebius Mars Attacks
seems 1/ 12 scale.. and eyes on the other two are so little..
Whats the deal here?

I believe he'd like someone here to answer why Monarch, Pegasus and Moebius scales don't agree.
My suggestion would be if it really bothers you that much, ask them, not us.

Sucks don't it? How's about restating the question.

I am not familiar with the Pegasus Tarzan. However, I am aware that each manufacturer has a certain leeway in how they scale their kits vs. the true scale. Aurora 1/8 scale monsters are smaller then what Moebius calls 1/8. Monarch is typically close enough to Aurora 1/8, so maybe he seems small compared to the Pegasus Tarzan, which may be more along Moebius 1/8. The Mars Attacks Martian is supposed to be 1/12 scale but may seem a little larger.

I think the answer is simple, people are different sizes. Think Danny DeVito as the Penguin vs. Arnold S as Dutch- they are over 1 foot difference in height so I suspect the difference you see in size is the difference in height the sculptor started with to be accurate.

For example 1/9 scale, DeVito would be 7" while 1/9 Arnold is 8.3". That is over an inch in height. For 1/6 scale, the difference is a full 2"

This reminds me of when I once built a diorama and used trees of all different size scales. Then I was asked were I found the small "O" scale trees.
