Sad to have to bring news that Andy Yanchus has passed.
I figure most here will know the name, for those that don't.
He worked at Aurora back in the day, and was responsible things like the Monster Scenes and Prehistoric Scenes, along with many others.
He was instrumental in helping Dennis Prince write the Monster Scenes book.
He also helped Atlantis quite a bit with some of their Aurora reissues.
I had the honor of meeting him only once. At Wonderfest back in 2014.
I had the pleasure of talking Prehistoric Scenes with him. He shared a few fun stories with me about the line and some of the production.
The modeling community is greatly lessened with his absence.

Rest in peace ANDY YANCHUS of Aurora
Word is spreading on social media. Andy died Sept. 11, 2021. He worked for Aurora when he was young. I believe he helped create both Monster Scenes and Monsters of the Movies. He also helped Atlantis get rolling.

Yes, the name Andy Yanchus is a name that will go down in modeling history. He loved the modeling community so much and contributed, basically a life time to it. He will be missed. May God bless him and family.

Andy will be missed around here. He created most of our childhood memories that we remember about this hobby. Without him you wouldn’t have all this talk about Aurora and Monster models.
Andy you will be missed!

Very nice write up on Andy. I met him at FallCon 87 in Runnemeade NJ only to say hello to it was my first convention since getting back into the hobby. I was thrilled that an Aurora veteran was present. He was one of the stars which got me so motivated to be back home building monster model kits being apart of this new old hobby. Rest In Peace
