The Fly quick review..... (Now With Pics!)

#1 Post by Glusniffer »

I bounce back and forth between build mode and paint mode so when this arrived today it was build mode! Kit says Monarch but I thought they went OOB awhile back. But from what I've read this kit has been looooong anticipated and don't think anyone will be disappointed. This is a big box of color! Very cool! And some very nice colored instructions as well.

Image

The box art is reminiscent of the Aurora glow kits but not very detailed.

The build so far is really nice and looks like most of it could painted in sub-assemblies.
If your love styrene this ones for you! 8)

The only problem with the kit is the fit between the two jacket pieces, just below the lapels. I had to work on that with sanding and putty. Everything else fit like a glove.

Well, I was going to wait and grab my fly at WF to save on shipping costs.
But, according to CultTVman, they are sold out at the manufacturer now. So, until they do another run, all the stock is out in the wild now.
So, if anyone is on the fence, might want to make up your mind soon before most outlets sell out.

At this price point, one is enough for me.
I've got more kits that I can probably build already, so my days of getting multiples are probably fading fast.

Yeah I picked one up and that will be it - a little pricy for me to get an extra.

Yeppers, Not cheap by any means but this kits awesome as far as tooling and details! No flash at all and the assembly is almost flawless. Styrene kits have really come a long way since I was growing up but besides the price this kit is worth it! 8)

Been on one this one for a few weeks now and should have some pics soon!

To be honest I was never a huge fan of the classic. I did enjoy the remake but that was because of Gina Davis! But this a really awesome kit! Very challenging. Don't remember ever painting a machine before but it was fun. And have fun gluing those little damn fly wings on..... I decided not to include the books and varmint. These will serve future purposes. But anyhoos....

X-pensive kit but worth it if you love styrene! 8) Nameplate is from Escape Hatch! http://www.escapehatchhobbies.com/

Love the nice clean work on the machine.
But even more I love how real the shirt, jacket, and pants look.

Damn fine paint slinging!

Travelers to unknown regions would be well-advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate.
