Duel With Death. One of the POTC re-pops. This is my 4th kit in the new/old series. Never had this one as a kid but after a 4 year hiatus I finished Dead Mans Raft and it kinda re-primed my styrene pump, so hopefully I'll post some pics in the near future.... :argh:

edit: I forgot to mention that this entire kit is molded in glow in the dark plastic including the accessories and sprues. Good to have on hand for future projects> 8)

Good to hear Jeff.
Was wondering why I hadn't seen you around.

Polar Lights' "Play it Again, Tom", their re-issue of the old Haunted Mansion kit that somehow doesn't require licensing through Disney because they changed a few words on the box. Not that I care, mind you, I'm happy to have the kit to build again:

Image

I had every intention of building it out-of-the-box, until I saw the name "Tom" on the kit. Now I'm thinking a few modifications and I'll have a tribute to one of my favorite musical artists, Tom Waits. We'll see...

Great kit.
In case you didn't know, there is a replacement head for it too.

I saw that on their website, and I do like the sculpt. If the whole "Tom Waits" thing doesn't work out because I can't get the likeness even close and I'd have to replace the head anyway, that'll be "Plan B". :thumb2:

Here's a rare little item that my job produced as a promo back in the 90s, when they worked on government/military projects. Just acquired this copy.

Just scored this vintage plastic last night

Image

It isn't complete, but what has me excited is I will finally have that vacuformed plaque again.
I remember having a couple as a kid, but so far all the partial vintage kits I have scored didn't have one.
The reissues don't have them, and when I talked to Jamie at WF about it, he seemed to have no idea what I was talking about.
I actually got it for a steal. With shipping and tax it cost me $36.
The box is crap, but I already have one, so that doesn't bother me at all.

With luck, I will be winning some more vintage plastic later this week too :o

Darn it!
I missed the close of the auction I was watching. Last I looked, it still had 25 minutes to go.
The wife was talking to me, and lost track of time. Check again and missed the end by 3 minutes :(

Someone got a lot of all 4 Gigantics kits for $13.
It was just the creature, no buildings or boxes or anything. But it was ALL FOUR OF THEM!
I could have had a giant wasp [sob]

Another bummer! The wasp would have been a grail for me.... IMO that was the best of the four and it had the amusement park theme. I had it back in the day and my dad painted it for me. Black with orange legs and orange along the edges of the clear wings. If I remember it wasn't re-popped in the 90's with the other three? Why?
