Big styrene drop from Round 2 - May 2020

#1 Post by DinoMike »

Round 2 just posted their monthly new product roundup on YouTube. Lotsa pop culture styrene this month. The Supernatural Impala, 1/1000 scale Discovery Enterprise, the next kit in the Haunted Manor reissues, and the final Jolly Roger pirates kit.

SNORE!...............................................
Reissues of car kits that are flooded on ebay that are first issues ..
More Star Trek kits.. oh jeeze... they too are flooded on the market..
I guess there nothing figure wise to reissue.. that anybody wants.

Yeah, most of that is pretty unexciting. The car from Supernatural is ok...but there's very little about the kit that really ties it to the show. They could have at least included a detailed trunk with weapons, including Dean's beloved grenade launcher.

I have no idea what you are talking about.
I've been waiting for a 4-door 67 Impala for 15 years now.
I've been waiting for this release for over a year now, and am super stoked.

And there are figure kits in this wave.
As Mike mentioned we have the final release in the Pirates of the Caribbean reissues.
And the 2nd release in the Haunted Mansion kits.
Those are making a lot of modelers super happy.

These are kits I was hoping to pick up at WF at the end of this month, but now it is pushed back.
So, should I by them now online, or wait until October to snag them in person, and save the shipping costs?

I am sure the aftermarket guys will take care of us in that regard.

I agree on the Supernatural car - having a 4 door model of this body style is great. I can see some cool diorama's out of this one.

The last POTC kit is way up there too - who would have thought a few years ago the whole series would get reissued. -- Something to be said about reissues! Find some of those car kits on eBay at a decent price. The car kits are what keeps Round 2 in business even if they don't interest you. I'm glad some of these plastic kit companies are still around offering up anything! Think back not too long ago and there was almost nothing being brought out new or reissued!!!

Exactly. They make their money on car kits, and the Star Trek stuff.
Which allows them to put out the low margin stuff that we figure modelers covet.
So, I never begrudge a company for doing what keeps them in business.

Besides. How many more kits do we really need?
I much prefer the release of kits I'm interested in to be spread out a bit. Doesn't hurt the wallet as much that way.
I am glad that R2 only reissued 1 or 2 Pirates kits at a time. If all 7 would have been dumped on the market at once, I doubt they would have done as well.
Heck, I still have some Godzilla kits I haven't picked up yet too.

I agree about spreading the POTC releases. I need to pick up the Godzilla kits sometime too - I bought the big one and the Jeep with the Godzilla backdrop. I want to still get the Lindberg reissue. CulTVMan has a cool base to use with it.
