Lots of styrene out now and coming in the future.

I was just looking over Cult's list of what is out and coming soon from the various manufacturers.

There is actually a lot going on with genre styrene!

How are us old guys supposed to stop buying styrene kits when great new kits are coming out?

Who can pass on a new 1/32 ST Shuttle Galileo? I can't. This model sickness sure is hard to beat...

So much of it! Lots of good news for fans of classic, hard-to-find styrene and a couple of lights for those of us who'd like to see new figure kits. I've got some replacement sets in the works...

Scott McKillop runs Monarch at his own pleasure, he doesn't need it to make a living, so we can at least be confident that what he releases will be the best he can possibly make it, whenever it may come.

As for the Haunted Mansion/Manor stuff, I love it. Maybe not technically impressive in some ways, but fun. I hope Play it Again, Sam, gets a new run. I don't think I owned any of those kits when I was young so I'm glad to have a chance now.

Not on Steve's list is Atlanta's hint that it's going to reissue the Aurora Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man and Mummy in 2021. The Dracula might have the classic head, as opposed to the Revell nightmare from the last reissue.

Aside from some possible pieces from Monarch, I doubt we're going to see (m)any more original monster figures in styrene. The superhero pieces coming from Moebius were already in the works before Frank Winspur sold the company. And candidly, I doubt sales of Wonder Woman and Batgirl are going to be impressive enough to persuade the new owners to continue the efforts.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

I think what's coming out is all great! A mix of a little of everything - should please pretty much everyone with at least one kit. I'm glad kit manufacturers are even releasing these type kits. They can't be big money-makers for them.

I think the Haunted Mansion series are just fun kits! You go into them knowing they are kinda cheezy - but that's the charm of them.

I agree with Todd about the Batgirl and Wonder Woman not being great sellers - these type girl kits have always been notoriusly poor sellers in the past. Just look at Aurora's efforts in the past. I'll buy them but I don't hold my breath waiting for many new subjects coming, girl-wise (at least as styrene subjects).

I've got 2 of those vampire kits in my stash now, and hope to add some more.
I don't care how goofy it looks, I love it.

I agree about the upcoming female kits.
And I will go a bit further and say, I am pretty sure that any new figure kits in styrene are going to be few and far between. We are a niche of a niche market.
Best we can hope for is some cool old reissues thanks to R2 and Atlantis.

I think you are right about new styrene figures in general - too costly to produce with little or no profit. Way cheaper to reissue older toolings. There is minimal risk there.

If you're referring to the Parks Born Losers series, the molds are out there - some one has them - as they were re-issued many years ago now using the original molds.

Any one know whether the PYRO Laramie Stage Ghost mold is known to exist and if it does what kind of shape it's in?

I am sure he was referring to Mike Parks of Mad Lab models.
Some of his tiny terror line would make nice injection molded kits, but I doubt it would profitable.

The Stage Ghost shares the excellent Pyro 1/16 T bucket chassis with a couple other kits (The Serpent, Sno Skeeter, Bullhorn T). The Serpent has been reissued fairly recently by Lindberg, so the chassis molds, at least, still exist.

Not that the Stage Ghost is a particularly attractive kit. Pics of buildups I've seen seem to show that it's rather ugly and misproportioned. But it does have the greatest box art I've ever seen:

Yes, apparently not the greatest of kits BUT there's no denying that it does have a cache.
