Creature From The Black Lagoon - Refurbished!
I originally built and painted this model back in 2001. At the time, I was dating someone who I was not into at all, and I just did not put my best into this model - did not like the way it turned out. And it sat on my shelf for 23 years. Currently, I am about to transition from painting with oil-based enamels to water-based acrylics, and felt like this particular model in my collection needed a “rehaul” – and would be a great opportunity to try my skills with acrylic paint. I gave the Creature a good rinse off under the kitchen spigot, let it dry, and started refurbishing it. I have used acrylics over this entire kit, accentuating and amplifying the old paint job from 23 years ago. There are some ugly seams on this model that I would have fixed if it weren't for the paint. I no longer own the enamel green I painted this with and cannot find it on Ebay (don't even know what it was, but know it's no longer in my collection).

This is beautifully executed and balanced. The colours blend beautifully. Your enamel version is/was extremely well done too.
Now we'll have to work on getting you a snake tongue LOL

That looks great. Love the variations in color and shade.

Very Nice! This was the 1st of the monster series I ever owned. I'm currently re-visiting these old classic kits. I'm hoping Creech will be re-popped again with the current Glow box issues!

Re: Creature From The Black Lagoon - Refurbished!
Thanks guys.
I was working on refurbishing my Aurora Mummy (well, Polar Lights repop) before the cold weather hit. It was the very first monster model I built as an adult (I had built it as a kid too). Anyway, I had no clue what I was doing when I worked on it back in 1998. This past summer I got the base completely refurbished, but I have to wait til spring for the Mummy, as I will need to do some spraying outside when it's warm.

I was wrong. According to the instruction sheet here: http://www.modelmadhouse.com/Creature483.pdf the snake's tongue was molded as part of his body/lower head half.
