the MPC Barnabas Collins ? Nothing seems to fit together and there are these wire rods. Has anyone built this kit ?

Yes I built the reissue, and yeah the fit leaves something to be desired.

As for the wire, that is a hold-over from the original. Originally the arms were some kind of pvc or something flexible. The wire was there to help them hold their shape but still let you pose the arms somehow ????
That is what I have heard anyway.

Looking over my build page for this kit.

Seams I had to remove some of the locator pins to get things together also.

It's definitely not a model that fits nice and snug together. I built this last year.
I skipped the rubbery arms and went with the hard plastic arms.

I was surprised. With a little work, they do build into some nice kits.
Especially with the resin heads.
Still not sure about the texture on the wolfman's shirt, but hey, it made it easy to match the texture when I puttied the seam.

Also, I went in with full intentions of gluing things in place, and not leaving things pose-able. Which meant I could work in sub-assemblies and not worry about putting everything together and trying to putty and paint it like that.
I just ground off chunks of the attachment parts so I could fit things like the shoes or arms into place after I was happy with them.

I didn't buy the repop, but had the original The arms were 2 piece vinyl'ish. Even with the wire rods they were essentially unposable, at least partially because adhesives at the time wouldn't adhear the arm halves well enough to survive bending.
