I think I have a problem

#1 Post by tay666 »

http://www.tylisaari.com/models/mymskits.htm

At this rate, my Monster Scenes collection might catch up to my Prehistoric Scenes collection.

45 kits and climbing
That is including the 18 kits I just got this week from 3 different online stores.

Of course, those 18 kits only cost me $190 with shipping.
Which is my problem. I keep finding them on sale.
And I know if I don't grab some, I'm going to kick myself in 5 years when they are 5 or 6 times the price.

Sounds like your problem might be finding a place to store all those kits, and finding the time to finish them. :D

I think that is a problem we all share

Seriously though. That is one of the reasons I keep snagging up so many of them.
I have lots of plans. The problem is, finding the time and the inspiration to get some of them done.

I hear ya...loud and clear. So MANY plans, So LITTLE time. But hey, if we didn't love it, we wouldn't be doing it, right?

I'm in the same "boat" as you are.I've been finding so many deals lately on kits, but have'nt found much time to work on them.Well,at least I know they're there when I do find the time.

I share your pain! I've moved afew times and hauling all my stuff around was a nightmare! Finally I'm settled in to my new digs and with all the packing and unpacking there are kits I forgot I even had!!! Then there are ones I scratch my head and say..why did I buy that..I'm never going to get to build it...BUT you never know! I think it's great you have plans for what you've purchased.

I layed down the law on myself and said, no more buying until I build one.

I am at a "builld one to buy one" decree on myself..........it hurts not to buy, so much WANT in me :-({|=
It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

I think part of the problem is, that I passed on kits before that were dirt cheap, thinking I would get them later.
When later finally arrived, I had sticker shock.

Prime example is the Revell MoTM Dracula kits.
I remember when TRU was blowing them out at just under 2 bucks.
And they were everywhere on ebay for less than $10 shipped.

Now that I have some uses for them, I can't find one for under $25.
Which, I know still isn't bad, but compared to what they were, it seems like it.

Same with the AMT reissues of the Gigantic insect kits.
I got all 3 shipped for like $10.
Not once, but twice.
Look at the prices now. Can't even get one of them for that price.
And actually lucky to find one for twice the price I paid for 3.

So, when I see kits I want to build for under $10. It's really hard to not jump on them.

And for anyone who wants to share my pain.
Check out Squadron for the 3 Dencomm kits. (less than $8 each)
KitKong has a 70% off sale on what styrene kits he has left. ($7.50 each for the Victims and Doctors I ordered)
And Cult has all 3 of the prepainted MS display kits for $42 for the set.
How do you not pull the trigger on prices like that?

I was the same way when Wal-Mart was blowing out all the Halcyon & MPC Alien kits. :) Can never have too many of those.

Monster Scenes and related kits now total 69.
And that isn't counting a couple lots of partial originals I got cheap on ebay either.

Sadly, only 4 are currently on my bench and in progress.

Over the last few years I say what I'm going to do with this?
Why do I need this.. I cut back buying because running out room..

Great pic of your kits. I would like to see a hobby store anywhere that had a display of kits like yours!
