Full AT THE EARTH'S CORE Blu-ray Details!
On 1/13, Kino presents the U.S Blu-ray debut of AT THE EARTH'S CORE. Now They're In Deep! Marauding monsters, scantily-clad prehistoric playmates and telepathic pterodactyls await in this colorful fantasy-adventure about a manned "drill-craft" boring its way to the center of the Earth! Starring sci-fi superstars Doug McClure, Peter Cushing and Caroline Munro (Maniac), this subterranean thrill ride directed by sci-fi specialist Kevin Connor is the most endearingly whimsical entertainment on - or under - the Earth! Prepare to journey to Pellucidar: an empire where gargantuan dinosaurs torture and enslave all humanoids - including the lovely Dia (Munro). But all that could change when a surface-dwelling scientist (Cushing) and an American businessman (McClure) drive a powerful machine straight into Pellucidar, stirring up adventure that only comes along once in a lifetime! The Blu-ray will feature extras produced by Scorpion Releasing, which includes an half an hour on camera interview with star Caroline Munro, audio commentary and on camera interview with director Kevin Connor, vintage featurette , original trailer and the sleeve will have a reversible front art shown above. The MSRP is $29.95.
Travelers to unknown regions would be well-advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate.

I remember seeing this at a young age at the theatre, the good old days.

The Prop Store's now got one of the stars of At the Earths Core The Iron Mole.
Here's a picture of it how it looks today (well a few months ago when I visited).

These Burroughs stories are certainly due for remakes.
The old versions are fun to watch, and "the Land that Time Forgot" still holds up very well, if you make allowances for some of the creature effects. The river serpent was fairly well done but the dinosuars on land were not at all convincing.
"At the Earths Core" has effects that range from more than passable to abysimal. More dilligent camera work would have helped to make the creatures short comings less noticable.
"Tarzan at the Earths Core" would be a great place to start, I don't think anyone has tried that one yet. The Zepplin and her brave crew would add quite a lot to this sort of adventure.
Finding a good Tarzan may be difficult, those with the build seldom have the gravity required for the more refined Lord Greystoke of the later stories.
Too bad they can't do head transplants just yet.
Theres a strange little novel that has the Frankenstein's Monster finding his way to Pellucidar and becoming a warlord king among the primitives there. That would make for a cool film.
