Iron Fist on Netflix === Fri 17th March 2017

#1 Post by Heavy Metal Spike »

The next "chapter" in the NETFLIX Marvel line comes out at the end of this week.

Reviews so far are not that good - but I'm still looking forward to a binge-watch on the weekend :D

finished 2 eps... the casting for me is off.

Danny is ok, so is Colleen...but the bro & sister and dad, for me, is way off!
The sister looked as old as Danny... the brother should be older and the father
(does anyone else keep seeing a freaking Spartan) should be much older!

that and the brother keeps looking like another actor, who i can't for the life
of me figure out who i'm thinking of...but it's not him and then he'll turn and
it looks like him again! (driving me crazy)

so far, although never a Iron Fist fan, it's pretty slow moving... but it's laying
out the characters, so I'm patient. (fighting sux though) Then need to hire
the guys who trained the actors in 'Bad Lands'! :)

E06 is a little weird, E07 things move up a gear (!) and bits of E08 confused the heck out of me.

5 left to go - so far I'm enjoying it way more than Luke Cage.

Still kinda gripes me when a character isnt true to the origin. Collen Wing was caucasian and dated Cyclops before the Dark Phoenix saga. She and Misty Knight were the Daughters of the Dragon. Wonder if the White Tiger and the Sons of the Tiger will be down the line? Steel Serpent? And is there any truth to all of these shows leading up to the Defenders? Ol Skewl. 8)

Very true. They are shooting the Defenders now. Of course, "Defenders" means stars of the Netflix shows, not the comic book Defenders. It will also only be 8 episodes rather than 13.

6 episodes in, I'm liking Iron Fist a lot more than I liked Luke Cage, which is the opposite of what I expected. I liked LC in Jessica Jones but didn't care for his stand alone show.

I agree the pacing is off. One reviewer said it was 8 episode story arc spread across 13 episodes. I can agree with that. The first few episodes just dragged. And Danny's supposed to be the best martial artist on the planet, so why's he so mediocre?

I'll wantch the rest of it over the next week. I'm enjoying it, but it's not as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones.

Agreed.

Finished this off and DID enjoy it, but my fave list would go DD2  JJ  DD1  IF  LK.

The latter half of Iron Fist picks up action-wise - but then I enjoyed the slow build in the first half as well.

Well worth watching.

I'm REALLY looking forward to the other 2 due to be released later this year - the Punisher series, and the Defenders - I think the interactions on THAT will make it special.

Started episode 7 but and still liking it but I have to agree that the fighting is pretty lame. Daredevil's fights were much better.
Don't really get the intro either. Looks more like Venom slinging black goo all over the dojo.......... :?

(Warning possible spoilers) Watched the whole series and thought it was okay not great just okay. I had two problems with the series, first as others have already mentioned the fights were lackluster. They need a better fight choreographer. And secondly a main villain, daredevil has kingpin with the great Vincent D'Onofrio. Jessica jones has David Tennant as kilgrave. Luke cage shares the same problem as ironfist it bounced around with at least three villains and killed the best one cottonmouth before series end. Ironfist instead of establishing a main villain, kept changing from episode to episode it's the siblings, no it's the father, no it's the hand, no it's the other hand, no it's his friend, etc etc etc.
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?
Lord, what fools these mortals be! -Puck

finished ep8 last night... this show is so lame!!!

Why is it Colleen can whip someones ass in like 2 seconds...(and TWO guys in a cage fight)
and this so called "Warrior Monk" can't handle a big dude in the file room w/out getting
kicked through racks and thrown all over the place!?!?!

The idjit tells anyone who passes him by how he was in this "...magical land" and yet
won't show them his glowing hand when they look at him askew!!!?! smh

anyone who thinks this show is better than the other 3...wow!

won't even mention the lame fight scenes! Hell, hire the guys from MATRIX at
least!!?! ya cheap bas' ards!!

(and just for curiosities sake... does Rosario Dawson have 8x10 b&w glossy
photo's of Marvel/Disney bigwigs in compromising positions w/ farm animals or what!!?!
she shows up in EVERYwhere?!!! lol )

I'll finish it... but ...

Nah - SO not my type - now that lass who played Misty Knight in Luke Cage - well - I do find HER quite arresting

Both ladies are great actresses though.

The first 5 episodes DRAGGED ... when Claire, Madam Gao and the Hand finally show up (end of episode 5 and beginning of 6), things sort start getting interesting, but that's short lived, since by episode 10 things get boring again, and the ending is as predictable as it was anticlimactic ... if you didn't see it coming by episode 3, you're exactly the audience this tripe was made for.

I have to agree with Buc on the fight scenes ... they're laughable ... the fighting in David Carradine 1970's Kung Fu TV series were more believable.

Was this the worst offering by Netflix/Marvel so far, no, (IMHO) that honor goes to Jessica Jones which was PAINFUL to watch. This one while not painful, wasn't as good as it could have (or should have) been.

Hopefully the next season of Daredevil comes out soon, to wipe the memory of JJ, LC and IF out of my head.
