So I saw this live action movie on Netflix last week and
added it to my watchlist.
Then made the mistake of telling my sons... who both went
apesh-t and told me their popular refrain: "No good movie EVER
came outta a anime series!!"
They then ordered me (aka promise) to watch the anime version FIRST
before I watch the live action. (Of course they didn't tell me the anime
is 53 EPISODES LONG!) So I'm on like e39 now... interesting story...but
can't wait to see what they leave out to make it fit in a 2hr movie now!!
(I should have learned this lesson after my AKIRA episode w/ those damn
pesky kids!) (here Dad... read these 6 graphic novels and then tell me how
great the movie was!!)
What's new in the Gallery?

Ummm.
Hate to be the one to tell you this.
There are 2 series.
Fullmetal Alchemist
and
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Both are amazing.
Both tell the same story, just differently.
The original anime diverged from the manga fairly early on. Brotherhood follows the manga.
They diverge right around the time things happen with Hughes.
Brotherhood is just as endearing as the original, but also much more adult and grim.
Apparently the Netflix movie takes from both series
Until they do an English dub with the actual voice actors I'm not going to subject myself to it.
Those are the voices I associate with those characters, and anything else would be way too jarring for me.

faster than the comic and just winged it 1/2 thru.
Brotherhood is on the watchlist and I'll start it tonight (finished the other one
last night... really didn't like that ending at all!!

before watching the movie is the way to go.
So my binge watching agony continues!!
(thankfully I alternate between a 'frankenstein cronicles' ep and a 'hap & leonard' ep... so
it isn't all that bad).

Re: Fullmetal Alchemist
I don't know if I would call it agony.
Both series are really good. And much more adult than I thought when I first started watching.
And by adult, I mean some really heavy themes and actual consequences from actions.

Re: Fullmetal Alchemist
was taken aback some w/ how fast Brotherhood branched out on it's own
compared to the orig! Was like ep2 and then, "Hey, that's new!!"
On part 4 and really like this version much better.
re: agony... that feeling you get when you at first see how many ep's
you have to watch. Akin to being told about 'Supernatural' and seeing
there were 9 seasons... or 'Breakng Bad' (although only 5 there) But in
the end you're glad you saw um!

Re: Fullmetal Alchemist
Finished both FMA:Brotherhood and watched the live action movie
last night.
FMA:B was a MUCH better storyline than FMA. And a much better
ending as well.
As for the movie. Let's just say they pretty much took the script from
the other two, crumpled it up and threw it away! So glad I watched
the other 2 prior!
Will give them big kudo's on one thing though... matching actors with the
characters were spot on! Especially Lust, Envy & Glottony!! Who ever
was in charge of casting def. earned their paychecks!
