I always thought if someone could combine the best of the movie, and the miniseries it would awesome.
The movie had the characters, the emotion, the excitement.
While the miniseries had the effects, the setting, and the true-to-the-book aspects going for it.

A combination of the two would really tell the story right.

Jodorowsky should have directed the film at the start. It would have been cool to see H.R. Giger's pre-production artwork translate to the screen.

Have you guys seen the documentary on Jodorowsky's Dune? I really dug it, he basically talks you through the whole film- they do the "moving" 2D storyboard thing... the bit where Aljandro talks about his meeting with burger munching Pink Floyd is rather comical... lots of great art by Moebius and Chris Foss.

Fans of the book would have hated Jodorowsky's version if it had been made. If you have seen any of his work you know what i mean, nonlinear story telling, hallucinatory visuals, sexual iconography, blasphemy etc etc. This is one of those projects that's better in the what could have been than in reality, (in my very humble). I really like the documentary though.

To me as well, but it would have bombed big time here in the states. Film as art has a very bad history at least as far as box office is concerned.
