A Dame to Kill For

#1 Post by gordman43 »

Hard nosed, violent and sexy as He11! Eva Green sizzled (like I knew she would) as the Dame Femme Fatale. Jessica Alba was equally hot. The fellas were tough as nails and showed no quarter. The look of the movie was fantastic, with more well placed color than it's predecessor.

We saw it in 3D, which I highly recommend. Major kudos to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller for this modern day film noir.

A guilty pleasure that is definitely in my wheelhouse!

Cool! Good to know Gordon. I really loved the first one and have been waiting for this one, so it looks like the Mrs. and I will be taking a trip to the dine-in theater tomorrow!

Just got back from seeing it. In some ways it out did the first (mainly the camera work and beautiful shots), Character's and the actors slotted in their roles were perfect as the first. There's just one small problem with the continuity of the story, as it rides the prequel/sequel line to the point where it gets a little fast and loose with it,then again I should probably go back and watch the first to help with the order...LOL.

I really enjoyed it! It had that same gritty hard edge as if written by Raymond Chandler in his meanest mood ever. I agree that Eva Green was killer, the perfect femme fatale.

For me though it's Marv that really is the backbone of this one. I'll let no spoilers pass from my keyboard! Go see it ya mugs!!

Oh, and actually a 3D film where the 3D works!

both my sons, upon learning of a sequel, said why?

but finally got a copy last night and enjoyed it as much as the 1st one.
(can never get enuff of Marv and Nancy!) :)

only drawback was I liked Clive Owen better than Brolin... and I couldn't help
waiting for a "you're in good hands w/ Allstate" to come out of GoldenEye's
mouth. :)

The stories were never in chronological order, so the films follow that path pretty well.
We started off with Marv's demise and as the various stories play out we learn more of Marv's origin and why he was as he was.

Fact is though if anyone could survive the electric chair it would be Marv.

With the medical miracles some un known doctors in Basin city seem to have at their command I wonder if Marv was one of their early experiments.

The actor who originally played Manute passed away so they had to recast that role, and the Brolin character in this film is the Clive Owen character before the plastic surgery hinted at by Owen in the first cycle of stories. A killer with a new face.
They had intended to have Owen appear at the end as the same character post op but that wasn't in the cards.
