Richard Kiel Passes

#1 Post by timetraveler »

Sadly, a true giant of genre film has passed away. Richard Kiel has died at age 75. Richard Kiel carried on the great tradition of being a "monster star" with countless performances in legendary shows such as Twilight Zone, Boris Karloff's Thriller, Man From Uncle and Kolchak, The Night Stalker. He had featured roles in popular films like The Longest Yard and Pale Rider but was perhaps best known for playing "Jaws" in the James Bond films. And let us not forget the "Solarite" from Phantom Planet.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Kiel a few years ago and found him to be extremely knowledgeable if not downright scholarly regarding genre films. He was well-mannerd, warm and very appreciative of his fans.
