Got to the end.
I'd position the 4 series as follows . . .
- • Daredevil 2 & Jessica Jones tied for 1st place.
• Daredevil 1
• Luke Cage
Not that it was bad – FAR from it – but the others are just so much better.
Still –
“UPS ain’t the only brown that delivers”
As mentioned above by Otto & Gluey, it's way
WAY better than any of the current TV series available - stopped watching Flash & Arrow & Legends Of Tomorrow as they got boring and repetitive, have just about given up on Gotham as this season has REALLY gone downhill (can't stand that Vale character or "actress"), and S.H.I.E.L.D. has pissed me off with their version of Ghost Rider (a
CAR - really? - it was a dumb idea in the comics and isn't any better here) so I'm likely dumping that too.
Few scattered thoughts below (obscured for those that don’t want spoilers):
- 1. Loved the intro music (reminded me of the 70’s & the original Shaft movie), along with MOST of the music throughout.
2. Unlike Jessica Jones that started slow until the end of episode 2 but then REALLY REALLY grabbed hold of you, this started slow, and pretty much stayed that way (although it started to pick up at the end of episode 7).
3. Mahershala Ali (Cottonmouth) kept reminding me of Louis Gossett Jr. (in a good way), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) was perfect, as was Simone Missick (wow!) as Misty Knight.
4. Theo Rossi just didn’t convince as “shades” though. Kept thinking of his whiny bits from Sons Of Anarchy.
5. Acting & directing overall was superb – as it has been for all 4 of these Netflix series.
6. Episode 10 was so determined to break basic science & engineering facts that I wouldn’t know where to start.
7. Plenty of little “easter eggs” scattered about that made me smile, and a couple of bit of praise for a real life rapist that had the opposite effect.
Basically – well worth watching end-to-end, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever go back and watch it again (which I HAVE done with the other 3).
YMMV.
