Alas the Comic book from 70's is still much better..

So, this review is probably pretty spot on then?

I was on the fence about this to begin with, then everything I've heard, I think my precious viewing time would be better spent elsewhere.

The reviewer makes some very valid points.

I still enjoyed watching it though.

I remember after watching Luke Cage end-to-end I wasn't sure if I'd ever watch it again (as I had with DD1, DD2 and JJ) - but I did.

Same will go for this at SOME point in the future I suspect :)

finished last night. Was hoping they'd be on the 'other side' at the end! lol

Left a 'I didn't like it' rating.

I enjoyed it. The fact that it didn't follow the path of the other Netflix entries is what I enjoyed the most. And that there wasn't as much horror, death and guts spread all over was a nice change of pace. Making it seem more like a soap opera (I don't watch any so I'm guessing here) rather than one of the more downer type stories so apparently popular now, is what let me like it more than I thought I would when I started.

I'm really tired of not enough fun and more than enough death, destruction, lack of hope or any happiness foreseeable ever for the future. My life is already too much like that. I want more happiness, fun, and 'superhero/comic book' storytelling. I want a break from my crappy reality and have something more enjoyable to lose myself in.

While not exactly fun, it was far less depressing to me than the very good Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage series. I thoroughly enjoyed them, but none left me feeling happy. If that makes any sense. I think the word that was used back in the old days was 'uplifting'. I can still get that feeling when reading 50's/60's comic books, and anything by ERB, or Doc Savage adventures. Or when playing with my wonderful little grandkids. Now THAT is happy, good feeling.

Spike makes list of shows probably best avoided by Bruce . . . part one - Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things, Westworld . . . :)

Seriously though - the "uplifting" result from shows like that is more of an intense emotional attachment from a story well-told and shared & well-crafted characters.

For simpler stuff, you could try Lucifer - particularly Season 2 from the beginning (well - it makes ME smile [mostly] anyways) . . . and the next GOTG movie will probably suffice :D

Other TV shows (besides comedies) - hmmmmm - I'd have to think on that one.

Yeah - saw that yesterday - that was some clever sleuthing by some folks 8) (assuming they are confirmed correct)

Season 2 official trailer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvvWB0GwCek

Have to say - aside from the 2 seconds Misty Knight was in this - TOTALLY unimpressed.

(* sigh *) - another featurette - this time about the fight choreography - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOI8unBh2UY

The 2 male leads (and - to be honest - the lass playing Colleen) are just totally wrong for their roles.
  • • Finn Jones as Danny Rand / Iron Fist
    • Sacha Dhawan as Davos
    • Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing
Without doubt, the worst bit of casting in a Marvel TV series except for that "Inhumans" balls-up

Watched the 1st episode.

Started out with a bang, and I immediately felt "this is better!"
Finn Jones was actually pretty good
As were the fight scenes (the one in the restaurant was REALLY cool).
Still not sure abut the lass that plays Colleen.

. . . but I AM sure that the guy playing Davos is TERRIBLE. Every scene he is in, he ruins it. The guy can't act to save his life. His accent, his "presence" - everything about him suggests one of those "pretty-boys" hired for looks rather than the ability to do a job. His delivery is stiff, and he's as miss-cast as Theo Rossi ("Shades") in "Luke Cage". TRULY TRULY awful.

Overall (excluding "Davos"), a LOT more entertaining than I expected.

PS: Has Joy ALWAYS been "anti-Danny"? - can't remember (I tried to forget most of season 1 - and did).
PPS: I'd never heard of a "cronut" - now I have - I'm thinking I may have to cheat a little and try one of those! :)

Halfway through S2. Enjoying it FAR more than S1.

Joy is mad because Danny kept the secret that her dad was still alive and doesn't accept that the Hand would kill her if she found out as good enough reason to stay silent.

Yeah - the Joy thing was explained some time after E01 (thanks though).

I've watched all 10 now - MUCH MUCH better than the first season - but whoever miscast the guy playing "Davos" needs to be fired!

Finished Season 2. Totally didn't understand the last ep, but damn
did Collen finally look bad ass in that last scene of her's!!?!

Totally didn't know Bloody Mary was going to be in this season and
loved it! (didn't she have physic abilities in the DD comics? Not like
Prof X or Jean Gray, but thought she could manipulate thoughts and
stuff?)

once again, Misty stole the show. Who ever writes her lines really,
really likes her! What a great actress!!

Agree with Davros... he didn't bother me as much as Shades did though.
But still wasn't that good. Still not a fan of Danny's... and the guy playing
Wade can't act his way outta an AA mtg either!

Have to admit, I liked this season more than the 1st. But bring on
Knight-Wing already!

Netflix Cancels Iron Fist - http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/9 ... wo-seasons
    • "Iron Fist was among the four initial series that Marvel sold to Netflix back in 2013, and it was also one of the most divisive.
While the first season took a beating from critics, the recently released second season received a warmer reception and higher praise.
But it apparently wasn’t enough to convince Netflix to order another season."

Hoping not to offend anyone here, but I just can't get past that Iron Fist is basically just one long Kung Fu movie with an occasional jab of a magic fist. Just can't buy him as a "superhero" and is certainly not worth a stand alone series. OK as part of the Defenders team, but not alone. I feel the same way about the Luke Cage Series - just a guy that can't get killed. No big deal. BUT, the Cage series does have a great lead actor. Both of these series get bogged down in the melodrama far too often.
