Trailer dropped for the remake yesterday.
Looks great!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnCdOQsX5kc

Seems like we are getting half the story in this movie.
I saw no scenes with the characters as adults.
Wonder if that will be a sequel if this does well enough?

I never understood how anyone could consider the original scary. The book was also very disappointing.

Yeah - clocked that yesterday too - is looking VERY promising.

Will apparently be 2 movies - 1st one with the kids, the 2nd with them as adults.

Nope!
It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

Sometimes I think if Hollywood had an original thought it would die of loneliness. Lots of great books would make dynamite movies. I guess we should be thankful no one's doing a remake of Plan 9 from Outer Space.

I'd say this does qualify as an original thought, it's no different than any other book that's been made into a full production Hollywood movie...the original was a TV miniseries made with the constraints of network TV and 1990 technology, this appears to be 2016 technology and no network television "handcuffs"...I'd say give it a chance.

My thoughts as well.
This isn't a remake of the miniseries. This is another take on the novel.
And from what I have seen, hopefully closer to the source material in overall atmosphere and feel.

You know...never really thought about it that much but (in my opinion) you're right...it was a real page turner until the end and then it was kind of "what the heck?"

It also looks like this movie is just the
Kids portion of the book, which I think is a good idea.
Its not just a hobby...its an addiction

With all respect to fans of the book, the book's ending so repelled me that I almost stopped reading King altogether. Years later I still consider it his lowest moment.

That book ending was definitely padding to make an already crazy long book even longer.
For me it was the Gerald's Game/Deloris Claiborne point that I gave up and never looked back.

Funny. Dolores Claiborne is one of my favorite King books, although the link to Gerald's Game was very weak.

I think I stopped after 'Needful Things'. On a positive note, the guy is
one hell of a great short story writer!

Yeah I think I started loosing interest around Needful Things also.
Though I did start the Dark Tower series, but never finished.
Also read From A Buick 8 a few years after it came out (birthday present)

Under the Dome had a disappointing ending too - extremely long story that led up to a huge let-down.

Correction, I did continue and finish The Dark Tower.
