Really loved this week's episode.
Not much humor, but just a well done episode.

I enjoyed it too. I can see how easily it would be to let a simulation program get out of hand if it was that realistic. I wonder if he tried locating her decendants and if any were alive in his time? Might make an interesting storyline as well.

Well I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic (no . . . really!) - so I enjoyed this one too. POSSIBLY my fave episode EVER.

Funnies:
  • • The incorrect acronym "translation" . . . "Wireless Telecommunications Facility"
    • The fall to the floor at the end of the simulation - SERIOUS LMAO moment there!
    • The Kelly Grayson / Bortus exchange regarding the "addiction recovery aid" - delivered PERFECTLY deadpan - "Is it helping" / "It is not".
A very pleasant, clever, and entertaining episode - enhanced with a beautiful song, sung by 2 great singers (who knew!)
    • . . . and a discovery that a handful of Clubhouse members (Trev included) may be part Moclan

One of the funniest scenes for me, was when Bortus emptied all those cigarettes out of that pillow.
I had forgotten about the WTF.

S02E12 - "Sanctuary"

I think there were more Star Trek alumni involved in this episode than ever before - MULTIPLE guest stars + the director (Frakes) . . .

Enjoyed this one, although the edge was taken off a bit due to some of the heavy-handed immigration & sexism analogies - E.G. the speech by Tony Todd

The use of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" was pure genius - especially the second time (battle scene) - I nearly spat my tea all over myself

I too loved the use of that song during the fight/chase segment.

I really enjoyed the episode. Didn't really find it all that heavy handed though.

Interesting concept of using the tractor beam to hide their trail.

Wonder if we will see anything more between Bortus and Klyden about this this season.
Such huge philosophical differences are going to be hard to overcome.

Oh yeah. I forgot my favorite quote from this episode until one of my friends mentioned it on FB

Yeah - that would be one of the bits of verbiage I referred to before :P In itself, the line is a cracker - something that all of us would embrace.

Someone was talking about something similar in another thread . . . I.E. knowing how some in Hollywood love to take "we're drinking the cool-aid" opportunities, you sometimes see digs where they may not have been intended.

I've no idea what the true intent was here, but given the naive/unrealistic/uninformed opinions that many of them (including some of those involved with driving this show) seem to have on various real-life situations, I know where my money would bet :)

S02E13 - "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow"

Another REALLY clever idea by the writers. ESPECIALLY loved the ending!

I think the only funny bits (aside from a couple of "one-liners") were the holographic gaming and (primarily) the dancing scene . . . Yaphit, Bortus & Klyden "doin' their thang" (words & actions) had us cracking up.

I've noticed before (on multiple occasions) that they DO seem to push the "we like drinking - A LOT!" angle a bit more than any other show of its type. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but it does stand out like a sore thumb - just seems a little odd and out-of-place.

Sucks that there is only 1 more episode left in the Season :(

I can understand the drinking thing.
What else is there to do?
That is one of the reasons why our actual military has such a high rate of drinking.

I too loved the club scene.
Not sure how I feel about the ending yet. I need to see how it affect everything before I form an opinion.

...also wonder about the 7 year difference and if that was wide
enough.

in my experiences:
17 - 24 not really
24 - 31 maybe

thought the gap was too small... maybe 15 yrs might have been better?

Agreed.

Adrianne Palicki is 35, and they always play younger characters, so she's probably trying to pass for about 31.

If they'd gone for a 15-year gap it may have screwed up the previously established timeline for the relationship (not sure what was previously said about that).

Yeah. 17-24 there isn't really much of a difference.
Maybe not quite as dumb, but still think you know it all, and are indestructible at 24.

Now. 24 to 31 can be a huge change.
Can't remember things for myself all that much, but I know my son became a completely different man between those years.

Must be Air Force... but then I'm use to fitting 130 days of drinking into
"...morning muster is at 0730, dick for brains... drink up Shippies" mode!

Wow!
I am no longer on the fence. I love the results!
Normally I really dislike time-travel episodes. They needlessly complicate things, and are usually a cheat to fix something.

But this was just shear fun.
Granted, after the first 15 minutes or so, nothing else in the episode was all that surprising.
And there were several things that were just way too convenient.
None of that took away any of the enjoyment for me though.
It was just fun to watch.

That ship was amazing! I loved the look of it.
Have we ever seen that pink tractor beam before?
Kelly sure had one heck of a push-up bra going on in that outfit as well :)

The twinkie put a grin on my face.

I like the fact there is no cliff-hanger.
The series has not been renewed for a 3rd season yet.
So, if it gets canceled, I would be mad and sad, but at least there isn't anything hanging out there to be resolved.

I liked the ending as well. Going into it I was sure they were going to make it a cliff-hanger and not let us know if things changed back or not.
I hope it gets renewed for a third season. Glad they wrapped the storyline up though.
I loved Kelly's look - umm was her hair different too? Didn't notice  8)

The beauty of the way things ended.
We get closure on things, but they still really left things open for a possible next season.
We don't know for sure that the present wasn't changed because of what happened.
It probably wasn't, but there is still that possibility. We never did get to see the restored present.

S02E14 - "The Road Not Taken"

Only just go to watch this because of various other stuff that got in the way (Halestorm, Endgame, GOT, tax returns, new client contract . . . )

I agree with all the comments you folks have already made – and typed this WITHOUT reading your posts in case of spoilers - unsurprisingly - we picked up on lots of the same stuff

WOW – what a way to end the season – my NEW best episode ever =D> =D> =D>
  • • At the start I was getting REALLY confused – like - why steal a microwave? (replicator) - “Yes I want half” (Twinkie) – LMAO.
    • The follow-on scene with the ice-caves was AWESOME – that & the music were very “Star Wars” (when Star Wars was good). Ditto for the large spaceship over the small one.
    • The music in general was AMAZING – full-blown Star Wars!!! – it really made this episode. And although it’s always good – it just seemed better in this one?
    • I swear Kelly’s pushed-up boobs entered the shuttle 5 minutes before her! Loved ALL the alternate timeline characters - even the kids!
    • Yaphet: "A piece of me got blasted off last week, a little bit of my memory was in it". Him poking though the door was a bit ROTJ too (the scriptwriters are SO doing this on purpose!)
    • Seeing Alara again was nice.
    • One “iffy” bit - with the base being invaded, why did Alara let them go? She didn’t know what was going on (or its importance), so why not encourage them to help fight . . .
      • . . . and why did the Kaylon targeting that was so bad at the start suddenly get spot-on once it was “red shirts” instead of main characters (lol).
Other nice points:
  • • The “Alien” music once in the ship under water.
    • The “jar of pickles” strikes again :)
    • Ed: “You know - Gordon’s probably going to have to live with us” /// Kelly: “Shut up – you’re ruining it” . . . I loved that – considering she and Scott Grimes are engaged in real life (ahhhh!)
    • Ed/Kelly simultaneously: “What’s the good/bad news” – lols :D
Season 2 of The Orville was way WAY more enjoyable than season 2 of Star Trek Discovery! (I stopped updating that thread because it was only average and they keep getting rid of the best characters/actors).

I can't see them cancelling this - it's FAR too good (but then I was reminded of Firefly  )

The ratings were good.
They don't want to upset Seth too much (he is their cash cow)
I think odds are good. Just don't know how they feel about the budget for the show.
