Pacific Rim Uprising

OMG!
This looks amazing!

Not only do the mechs look cooler, but looks like a lot of full daylight battles.
Actually be able to see the action instead of that nighttime rainy stuff from the 1st one.

I am curious about that robot vs robot scene they showed.

OK...I got goosebumps! :D

I loved the first movie and was a little skeptical about this because of the change of Director and some of the cast not returning...but that looked really good!

I saw the first on a recommendation from a friend. It was way better than I went in thinking. I would give this a chance based on that.

I am a fan of giant monster movies.....but the focus seems on the transformer pilots fighting each other.
I will see it and cheer on the kaiju...just wishing for a more classic giant monster movie.
Hoping the next Godzilla movie will be better>>>>

I am willing to bet it will be.
That is one of the reasons I am so stoked about this.
Same studio (Legendary) doing this, did Kong:Skull Island, and does Godzilla.

After I saw the daylight fight scenes in Kong, I was really excited to think that we may get some good clear scenes in Godzilla.
Now, seeing the trailer for PR2 and how clear and crisp the fighting seems to be, I am beyond hopeful that Godzilla will get the same treatment.
(will have to wait for the movie to see how the scenes are edited to decide just how good the fights will be)

As for the mechs fighting each other, I've watched the trailer a few more times.
There only seems to be one mech that they are fighting.
So I don't know if it goes rogue, or if it gets taken over by the kaiju somehow.
But I have a feeling most of it is going to be mechs vs kaiju like the first one.

There are at least 3 rogue mechs. At the 40 second mark in the trailer two mechs fire rockets on a control center. The mech design looks much sleeker and more alien than good guys. When I first saw the trailer I thought "Great the mech pilots will fight then become friends and save the world." Now I think it is just a preliminary battle with rival nations before the Kaiju. It may be hard seeing John Boyega in another role other than Finn.
Enjoyed the first film with all of its flaws and I figure I'll like this one also. Even considered one time making a Gypsy Danger costume but I am very lazy and it would be a lot of work.

Let us know what you think - I won't be bothering now (Boyega bugs the heck out of me after watching TLJ).

I saw Pacific Rim Uprising. I had some reservations going in because of the change in cast and Director. I really did like it though. I loved the first movie, and though I didn't like it as much as the first, I still thought it was really good.

I'll echo that.

Unfortunately, I had high hopes for this one, so I was somewhat let down when I watched it.
But after reflecting on it a bit, I did really like it. It just wasn't as good as I had hoped.
While we got some great day-time fight scenes, almost all of them took place inside cities, so the view was still blocked and couldn't really appreciate the action.
Loved that fight out on the frozen tundra though. That was what I was hoping for.
Also, I thought they tried to do way too much with the plot and tried to get to complicated with it.
Too many twists and things going on.
I enjoyed the characters and thought the actors were all pretty good.

Also thought the set up for the final fight was way too contrived and convenient.
Like they couldn't figure out where they were all heading in the first movie?
If they really were making bee-lines for that point, how they hell did they end up attacking North America at all?

All that said, I will buy it when it comes out, and watch it a few more times.
No kaiju movie is perfect, and this was still more fun than some of the really bad Godzilla flicks that I still give attention to.

Thanks for the feedback both.

Sounds like we can safely add this to the list of those to watch once available post-cinema :thumb2:

Oh, it was great seeing it in the theater.
I was just hoping for something a bit better.
After Kong: Skull Island I really had my hopes up that Legendary were getting things on the right track.
Also, I forgot that Del Toro wasn't involved with this one like the first one, so my expectations weren't realistic.

SPOILER ALERT!

I liked it a lot, but I didn't love it. I'll just say that (for me) there was too much Jaeger vs. Jaeger, and not enough Jaeger vs. Kaiju. The battles were all done really well, but there were times when it felt like I was watching a new Transformer movie instead of a Pacific Rim movie. While that's not necessarily a bad thing...it's just not what wanted to see in this franchise. I want to see giant monsters fighting giant robots! That's what grabbed my attention when I saw the first trailer for the first film, and that's the biggest thing I loved about the first film. I also had a few issues with the story in Uprising, and with one of the characters. Mainly, why spend years attacking the world, if Mount Fuji is your real target? Also, how did a child become a Jaeger expert in ten years with no formal training? I still enjoyed it enough to buy a copy, but I'm hoping for better in the third movie.
