"San Junipero"

Wow. Heart-wrenching & beautiful.

Only got the full relevance of the Belinda Carlisle song as the end credits started rolling – which no doubt was the writers intention.

Amazing acting, ditto for the script and EVERYTHING about this one. Loved it.

These 2 MORE than made up for the “negative waves” from the other 3.

Thanks guys (I'll stay in this vein now - won’t be watching any others unless someone recommends them).

PS: 1987 – the year of the song AND the year I met my gorgeous Wife . . . TOTALLY one of the tracks on our “our songs” list :) :cloud9:

Did a very large man wearing sun glasses at night and a field jacket with studded leather patches and carrying an UZI walk in about then.

That was an earlier scene - but he said he'd be back.

Yeah, San Junipero is perhaps THE high water mark for the series. Really a terrific story.

Has anyone watched Bandersnatch? I usually watch Netflix from my iPad, which isn't supported by that episode. Wondering if it's worthwhile watching on my laptop...

Wow... Initially, you only watched 3 episodes and wanted to bail?
Being such a metal-head, I figured you would have a bit more backbone, Ian!!! LoL
I recommend "Nosedive" (Season 3 Ep. 1)
Very ironic and funny, and yes, in a "dark" way - LoL!!!

I think the depressing tone of those 1st 3 was better suited for fans of the Smiths

Ye Olde wikipedia says Alice Eve is in "Nosedive" - so I'll give it a try - thanks.

As is Bryce Dallas Howard.

I also recommend "Playtest" (Season 3 Ep.2)

Great... Now you got me wanting to watch them again!!! LoL

"Nosedive"

Bugged the hell out of me initially - but it grew on me the more it satirised/illustrated some of the negative aspects of "social" media.

Couple of lines I liked (no pun intended) . . .
    • The (on the nose) "fake smile jailcells"
        • And the ironic "wasn't a meaningful encounter"
            • . . . there were plenty of others that bought on a cynical smile though

Glad I watched that one - thanks Matt :thumb2:

S04E05 - "Metalhead"

Was eventually drawn to this one because of the name - go figure :)

Not exactly a cheerful episode - but enjoyable nonetheless. Liked the design of the "dogs" & the scanning/sensor simulation effects - very clever.

I just watched it again but this time with my wife and she loved it. So many details that I missed or didn't get the full relevance until the 2nd viewing. The Carlisle song was at the very beginning also and most of the songs in between meant something or was giving clues. Yorkie rejected playing the video game the guy suggested and we later know why. My 2nd time watching was even better and I'm glad you liked it as well. Cheers!

Anyone watching Season 5? I've viewed the first two episodes and really liked the second one, "Smithereen." Although you feel for the main character (the kidnapper), you have to feel sorry for the social media creator as well....

I enjoyed the third episode the most. The robot post jailbreak was hilarious. Loved the charging cable bit. Still makes me laugh.

First episode was okay, mostly just questioned why a fighting game would allow that sort of activity (virtual rape would mean real lawsuits). Would have made more sense if it was a Sims type game with a mortal kombat subgame and you had to agree to certain types of interactions first, or whitelist certain people, etc.

Second episode - blah. No different than a police procedural. I rarely watch police dramas, so this didn't interest me at all. It was the least of the technology gone awry episode in the whole series.

I'm giving the season 2/5. It won't stop me from watching a Season 6 but I'd never recommend it based only on these three episodes. If you're a completionist, watch them, if not, just watch #3, Miley Cyrus channeling Trent Reznor is fun. :)

Just watched S5E3 and have to agree that it's definitely the most entertaining of the three, but I still think E2 carries the deepest message with respect to technology gone awry.

Also, the irony at the end of the episode was done brilliantly....
