A really clever main premise that I can see becoming reality within the next 100 years - peoples experiences/consciousness (what makes them "THEM" mentally) being stored digitally - allowing transferral between physical bodies or clones.
Suppose I'd describe the VERY impressive visuals as a cross between "Bladerunner" and "American Gods".
A bit OTT on the violence and sex, but still enjoying it.
I still have 1 episode to go and will probably finish it tonight. Last year I was excited to hear about it since I really enjoyed the books
Very little difference between the books and show which I was happy to see. Little details that don't matter, mostly. Biggest difference was Quellcrest Falconer...no idea why they'd go this way with her (her being the person who trained Tak) and it's going to make doing book 3 harder, if they continue the series. She was a poet and political activist, not a warrior. Envoys were federation special ops, not her personal troops. Tak never knew her, IIRC she was either before his lifetime or during the hundred+ years he spent off world before leaving the corps (peacefully, after his squadmates were killed on a mission), thus a historic figure to him.
There was no sub-plot with Rei. While the events played out mostly the same, it was a different person calling the shots.
All in all a really good interpretation of the source. I recommend the books to anyone interested: Altered Carbon by Richard K Morgan, then Broken Angels, finally Woken Furies. He also wrote a book called Thirteen which was pretty good. Not in the same universe, but also a sci-fi thriller.

A little confusing to follow in places, but a few quick rewinds sorted out a lot of those.
Oh - and don't get put off if you can't understand the Mexican lass's accent in the 1st episode - she gets an elocution coach by episode 2.
As is usually the case, I went web-trawling after watching to see interviews etc. - THAT was a mistake - the actors/actresses make much more sense in character

Agreed.
Not as violent & dark as the 1st season, and the new lead (Anthony Mackie) worked out very well. Simone Missick didn't disappoint either.
Very little nudity too (not that I'm exactly a prude), but the one bit that cropped up was a bit of a surprise given it's absence in all the other episodes (stunning looking lady too!)
Great story that built/expanded nicely on the first season, and all the acting, direction, effects etc. were premier league.

Yeah... I don't like that 'pulled-back-tight', school marm look!
I'm just surprised I remember anything else about the scene (I think I'm getting old).
hahaha, yeah... actually thought of that after thinking she looked good w/ her hair
down... "huh? she's got this fantastically naked bod' and you're commenting on her hair?!
And you call yourself a sailor?!?? Time to turn in that shellback card, shippie!"
I'm about half way through S2 but really have not been feeling it. Was looking on IMDB for cast info and noticed the reviews - boy am I not alone, it's taking serious flack!!
Great series. I liked season 1 more at first but now see both kinda equal. I think that season one is a mystery and season 2 is more a mission. Once I saw the series as two different stories despite having the same man I liked it fine.
