I saw it today. I thought it was good. Good acting all around and of course the special effects were top notch. A fun popcorn movie.
Nothing earth shattering, just a fun ride.

Saw it tonight and loved it! Lots of homages and references to the history of the franchise and its canon.

I have not seen it yet, will go next weekend, but judging from the trailers, we'll love it, much more than the awful third trilogy. Very odd that these spin-offs ( Rogue One, Solo, maybe the upcoming Young Obi-Wan film, too ) capture the essence of the saga much better than the canon trilogy last movies.
I prefer to see another face in place of Harrison Ford's for the role, instead of seeing him old, white-haired, weak and tired, still wearing the same dresses as 30 years before and dying that useless way after little more than a cameo appearance. I don't know how many of you think the same, but I feel that the character - and the actor - deserved a better treatment in TFA ( I'm not speaking about money ).

Saw it last night... thoroughly enjoyed it, beginning to end!!!
I don't hate ep's 7 and 8, but like the stand alone movies much more.
I have watched Rogue One many times and forsee Solo being a
"throw it in the dvd player and let it run while modeling" movie.

Have to agree with (almost) everything posted so far.
  • • E01/E02/E03 - well - they happened
    • E04/E05/E06 - classics one-and-all . . . REAL acting chemistry
    • E07 - I appreciated it at the time because it had been so long since we'd seen the original actors, but it was really just a repeat/placeholder.
    • E08 - HATED everything about it with a passion

    • Rogue One - is up there with the original trilogy - SUPERB movie.

    • And THIS . . . THIS is another GREAT entry.
The only things that bugged me were:
  • 1) The music for the chase scene at the beginning was too imposing / overbearing / "too much" / didn't fit . . . heck it was too grandiose & spoiled the whole scene for me. The music for the rest of the movie was just fine - go figure!
    2) Wasn't convinced by the fella playing Han at-all. Real shame given that everyone else handled their roles VERY well - ESPECIALLY Harrelson, Clarke & Glover - THEY were PERFECT.
    3) The SJW droid thing would have worked (clever idea) but was overplayed - parts came over like an ignorant talking-head on CNN or "The View".
Very enjoyable overall, and I'll for sure be getting a copy for home viewing :D

For me the film was "okay," but nothing more.

Enjoyed Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany and especially Donald Glover.

I've seen Alden Ehrenreich in other films (Hail Caesar and Rules don't Apply) and enjoyed his performance better in those films.

Granted, the bench-mark is high following an established performance from Harrison Ford.

Solo is a character the fans know very well and we needed to see some foreshadowing of the character he becomes. Maybe Ron Howard should have directed a better performance from Ehrenreich.

I was really hoping Harrleson would have had a line like "Don't get cocky kid" directed toward Solo for continuity sake (as Solo says to Luke), something to tie this film in closer to the original trilogy.

As others have said, the effects were what we've come to expect, so no fault there.

The main issue for me was the lack of an engaging story to pull it all together.

There were a few Easter Eggs and nods to the SW franchise that kept me interested in what was happening on screen.

Harrelson wearing the skiff guard costume that Lando wears in Return of the Jedi.

Warwick Davis was back (previously an Ewok, played Willow in the Lucasfilm movie of the same name that was directed by Ron Howard) and Ron Howard's brother Clint made an appearance as he almost always does in his brother's films.

But the biggest was the appearance of the idol from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

This is BS. I come to these threads for hatred and entitled fanboy rage. So disappointed...

Just saw it and really enjoyed it, will see it again.
But I think the theater I saw it in didn’t have a bright protector, everything seemed really dark.
Its not just a hobby...its an addiction
