Mayans MC - set 2½ years after "Sons Of Anarchy"

#1 Post by Heavy Metal Spike »

.

I was unlucky/lucky with Sons Of Anarchy.
  • For a variety of reasons, never caught it while it was on.
But then I got to binge-watch all 7 seasons (92 episodes) in the latter half of 2016.
    Loved it.
As a result, I made a calendar note for Mayans FC starting tonight, and watched it day 1.

No disappointments.

Has that same "Kurt Sutter" swag about it. Deep, believable characters you get into immediately. The plot built really fast too. It's gonna have some nice twists & turns.

First episode benefitted from some familiar faces too :)

Recommended to anyone that enjoyed "Sons" - and to those that made the same mistake that I did but STILL haven't watched it.

"Kill the devil - resurrect Mexico" indeed.

  • I'll try and avoid spoilers on the thread then (if I can).

One of my older Brother's inlaws is a founding member of the Hell's Angels.
Years ago a restaurant owner was very rude to one of my nieces. She called her uncle three states away and within twenty minutes over 50 Hell's Angels were waiting for him in the parking lot. The situation was settled without bloodshed, that one time at least.

In the 50's and 60's Mass killings of rival bike gangs were the norm rather than the exception.

Naw... no worries... I usually don't open the post until after I've seen it/finished watching
it.

So post away!

I watched all of SOA( to my regret ) I didn't particularly like Kurt Sutter's "everyone man's fantasy of what they'd be like if they were outlaw bikers/brawlers impressing the hot females/momma boy approach" of SOA but stuck with it( still unsure as to why. ). Don't get the hype of the show or Sutter's writing( though I'm not sure how much of it he actually writes ). With that said I have the 1st ep of Mayans DVR'd and plan to watch it this weekend, and maybe be pleasantly surprised.

Another familiar face (and hands) in E02 - along with a reminder (as if one was needed after last week) that there are some REALLY nasty characters in this series

Forgot to mention how fond I am of the theme music too - not sure what to make of some of the lyrics - but still . . .

Already renewed for Season 2 (yay!) Image
    • "Mayans MC is performing fantastically, proving to be a breakout first season" Nick Grad, president original programming at FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a statement.
"The series premiered as the highest rated cable series this year and continues to sustain a committed fan base, reflecting the talent and drive of creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James.
We couldn’t be more excited to take this ride to a second season."
