I could rate it against "Star Raws - Retrun of The Deji" - the little known Hindi documentary about famous tigers . . .
    • . . . or maybe the awful French sci-fi film covering intergalactic wardrobe hunters - "The Preditoire" . . .
        • . . . or perhaps that classic Irish prison movie starring Curt Russlee - "Escape from New Cork"

Would those do?

...Yeah, that's another initial thought I was having...

...I guess I gotta bite the bullet and give the movie a try.

My wife and I saw it and very much enjoyed it.

It had a bunch of differences from the original Marvel Comics Kree Mar-Vell which led up to a female Captain Marvel in their comics, and that bothered me, as these things usually do. but knowing this is an alternate universe from the original comic books I read as a kid, I soon get over such changes and simply enjoy the movies.

And it was nice to see Skrulls finally.

My son put his digital copy up on MU so I was able to watch it last night.

I liked it!!
(i too stayed away from all the social media hoopla, so I'm in ignorant
mode as far as background goes)

Couple Thoughts:

1. as some one said above, the music in some spots was "OUCH!?! That's
terrible!!"

2. The voices of the Skrulls... I won't say terrible... but weren't they alittle
off putting?! The voices just didn't go w/ my idea of Skrulls! (think it was
just me, cuz my boys had no issues with it) Again... not a big thing... just..
weird

3. If Lawson's Krell name is Mar-Vel, why is Danvers called Capt Marvel?

4. Fury's eye... no.... no.... c'mon man! really???! lol

I'll probably watch it again during a lull in TV shows, but again, was enjoyable.

=>3 Does she ever call herself Captain Marvel? Does any character ever call her that?

Real questions, I don't remember it happening. There was a reason in the comics but is that her name in the movies?

Yes, the movie is called that but is that her name within the movie? Or just the name of the movie? Guardians of the Galaxy didn't call themselves that even though that was the name of their movie.

The 1970s Superman movie was called Superman but he didn't call himself that. Lois did, then Lex after she published it. He did eventually answer to it but he didn't name himself that.

Alien was called Alien but I doubt the creature thought of itself as Alien.

It was never the name of a movie, but along the same lines, Pinhead was never named Pinhead in the original movie, the books it's based on, or the sequel book.

I don't think she ever adopted any hero name in the movie the way most of them did...she probably still thinks of herself as Vers, Danvers, or Avenger.

Or "Woke Woman - unchainer of movie reviewers" if you're talking about the actress herself :)

Watched the old Movie serial Captain Marvel years ago and was a bit shocked at the brutality with which he dispatched villains. Throwing a guy off a tall building, throwing a truck engine and clipping a guy with it basically destroying his cranium, throwing a guy straight down from a bridge to plant him in the ground like a tent peg. Slowly stalking a back shooter who is whimpering and begging like a little girl then beating him to death as he had promised he would.

Sooooooooo . . . we have "part 2" coming around in Nov 2023, and a "teaser trailer" hit a couple of days ago.

Have to say - this is looking rather nice :thumb2: :D

Ms. Larson appears to be nailing the role again, love the cat (again), and Iman Vellani (even in this short trailer) exudes the same charisma & screen presence she shared in her Disney+ series. Good to see her family back too!

Fingers crossed we actually get a decent Disney-Marvel movie for the first time in a LONG time

I guess my anti-Marvel Captain Marvel sentiment is out of control, because that trailer was a pure dud for me. Just more of the same same same same. Whine gripe moan piss vinegar ... I'm starting to read like Scuzz, aren't I?

For what it's worth, I was even more turned off by the trailer for Blue Beetle. I've been saying for the past few years that comic book movies are over for me. Maybe it's finally true.

I have missed more Marvel movies I've seen in the past five years.

Meh.
I might watch it if I stumbled across it on TV.

The only superhero movie I am interested in seeing is Deadpool 3

Ragnarok was the last Marvel movie I enjoyed.
The last one I watch was Infinity War. I've seen parts of Endgame but hasn't interested me enough to actually make the time to watch the whole thing.

The last Marvel comic movie I watched and enjoyed was New Mutants.

That alone isn't bad, if it is done well. I just don't trust the current crop of execs at Marvel Studios to do it right.

Who knows, maybe there's something in the works from Marvel that will capture my imagination again. Ragnarok wasn't the last Marvel movie I enjoyed, but it's now probably my favorite. The last one I enjoyed was Spider-Man: No Way Home, but I have almost no interest in seeing it again.

My only potential interest is seeing the Fantastic Four enter the Marvel movie universe, and the story I'd vote for-- an enormous Hulk/Thing battle inspired by Fantastic Four issue 25 -- probably won't even be considered given that we already have 15 years of the MCU's Hulk.

I watched 2014's "Winter Soldier" (probably for the 4th or 5th time) over the weekend to remind myself how good these movies used to be in the "Marvel Studios" glory days.
      • It didn't disappoint.

I can't say the same for the latest "Ant-Man" movie, which was very pretty, and had some clever ideas & designs in it, but was yet another example of flashy special effects replacing writing. It wasn't AWFUL, but it did wast most of the talented cast though bad writing and/or direction.

As has become the norm for these now, it will be a LONG time (if ever) before I watch it again.

Given how much CGI etc. costs, I TRULY do not understand why more money is not spent on giving us decent scripts Image

My top 3 Marvel movies are still the same.
Iron Man
Winter Soldier
Ragnarok

I can sit and watch those any time I stumble on them flipping chanels.

I've enjoyed others, but really don't care if I see them again. (Avengers, Guardians, etc)

I'm not a Spiderman fan, and that seems to be the bulk of what they are churning out now.
The only movie I am looking forward to is Deadpool 3. And I am hoping that Disney doesn't screw it up.
The first two were amazing. I can sit and watch either any time (though I do still prefer the original)
