so on my usual Saturday morn, I click up my local tv guide to see what new
movie HBO will have on at 8pm and I see Doctor Sleep.

How come I've never heard of this, nor ever heard there was a sequel to The
Shining made?!

At first I was going to skip it, cuz unlike most S. King crap fest stories, I really,
really did enjoy Stanley's interpretation of this book into film and didn't want to
ruin it.

But...but... Obi Wan's in it!! Oh you nasty #@#%$&!! So I put it on...

and I gotta admit, I thought it was pretty good! The ending climax was a little
TOO fast, for all the buildup they gave it, but overall enjoyable 2 hrs!

I gather the movie serves as a sequel to Kubrick's film, even though Stephen King's novel of Doctor Sleep doesn't. In fact, as I recall King even made a point of that in his intro to the book.

Haven't seen the movie yet myself. The novel was OK but a pale follow-up to one of King's best works.

Going by (my poor) memory the director changed some things to work as a sequel to both.
I haven't read the book yet but I did enjoy the movie.
