Reacher

#1 Post by derekc62 »

Anyone watching it?

I finished it the other day...

Plot holes big enough for Reacher to fit through, and as for the acting... well... you know...

That being said... it was FUN!

I'm halfway through episode 3 (fell asleep). I never read the books or watched the Tom Cruise movies. In other words, I know nothing at all beyond the show.

Enjoyed the first couple eps, but also getting bored of it.

What bugs me (possible spoilers)
Reacher hasn't spoken to his brother for years apparently, but brother told him about Margrave...probably years before Joe had a reason to spend much time looking into it himself. Coincidences within a plotline are fine, plotlines that require coincidences don't work for me. And why would the head of a DHS section come alone to the center of power of the people he's investigating. And why would his assistant talk opening with people she doesn't know over the phone, just because Reacher claimed to be Joe's brother? So, also, plotlines that require stupid don't work for me. Crap writing. Again, I'm early on and maybe this is cleared up properly later but right now it's turning me off watching more.

And if Reacher is his last name, why is his family calling him Reacher? Do they all have different last names? Or is this the writer assuming the viewer is too stupid to realize who the kids are during a flashback?

30mins in on the 1st episode - IMPRESSED!

Always liked Alan Ritchson as "Hawk" in "Titans" but this is perfect casting.

(* EDIT *) Now finished S01E01 - with added "Guillermo" - yay! =D> =D> =D>

PS: The music ain't hard on the hearing either!

LOL - just finished S01E04 - NOW I get that

Not sure what you mean about the acting Derek? - seems great to me (and the chemistry between the door guard and Reacher is CERTAINLY there).

Obviously my view only but..

Ritchson's emotional range seems to run the gamut from "A" all the way to "B."

It all starts with the writing and the characters are one dimensional at best. That leaves the actors with no chance to ... well, act...

I don't know the books and although I enjoyed the movies with Cruise, they were apparently not representative of the lead character.

But I get the impression that he's supposed to be stoic, so that fits what's portrayed here.

Just finished S01E06 - STILL loving it, but did pick up on 1 obvious thing. Fellas that height AND heft are few-and-far-between. When they hit, you feel it, and there have been (as is usual for cinema) too many fights that show guys taking multiple hits when they wouldn't get up after ONE. My bud Paul is one such fella, and trust me, I've seen him hit

Still - it's entertainment, not a reality show :)

Don't get me wrong - I might be critical of the writing and acting but I've been able to set that aside and enjoy the show for what it is. And I'll definitely watch season two.

. . . and there we have it - I finished Season 1.

And much like Reacher himself - I'll give it a thumbs-up.

As my compatriots have stated - a few plot holes (and I'm fairly certain smoke does NOT discriminate when it comes to whose lungs it enters), but damn good fun,

I'll also be on the lookout for Season 2.

Glad you liked it. When I was watching ep 1, and he was sitting
in the diner as the police cruisers surrounded the place, I kept thinking
of Rambo 'First Blood' and if this was going in that direction.

Likewise,looking fwd to season 2.

Wife and I started watching this today.
Watched the first 3 episode. Really liking it.
I really love he humor in it.
I like the big, stoic, bad-ass character.

Yeah, it feels a bit contrived. Yeah, he is a bit overpowered.
But I don't care. It's fun, and it has enough plot and twists to keep my attention.

I do enjoy the two Cruise movies, but I think I like this version better.

PERFECT final episode to the season.

I'll post more when I'm off the high - but ending with Skynyrd - and THAT track - was the icing on the cake.

As Rickey Medlocke himself says - Hell yeah! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
