There is something there. Can't put my finger on exactly who they remind me of, but they remind me of someone.
So many great tracks on the album (so much cheerful energy) it's tough to pick a fave - but I THINK (at the moment) it'd go to track #2 (the title track) - "Join The Circus".

Sorry. Can't get pumped with this song.
It's not bad. It's just the whole time I listened to it, I kept thinking it sounded like a poor man's Alice Cooper tune.

Now, here is one I can get psyched about

Been a fan for a couple years now, and they keep impressing me.

Well Alice did heavily influence Dee & the boys :)

Regarding "The Pretty Reckless" - I first found out about them/this around 6 weeks back - and had been meaning to post THIS link (lyric video version) 8)

Really John.
No love for Lita?

I've always had a spot for the female singers. Started when I was a kid with Heart.
Then Pretenders, Benatar, Jett, Blondie, Bangles, Lauper, B52's, Vixen, Morissette, Stefani, Crow, Pink, I even have to admit I like Avril and Swift.

Ian, they first hit my radar when this song was getting decent rotation on my local stations.

Then I discovered some of their earlier stuff, like this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txBfhpm1jI0
I like the variety of styles they employ.

And to add one of the other tracks that's impressed me lately . . .

I'm not a fan of most of the tracks I've heard by Opeth - but this one - there's some MAJOR Jethro Tull / Ian Anderson channelling going on - and it REALLY works for me.

And THIS - THIS - I've been meaning to post for a while now but keep friggin' forgetting.

Rammstein - "RAMM 4" at PinkPop (june 11th 2016). I'd never heard this until BW&BK (beless em' AGAIN) posted a link, and the main hook just (well) hooked me.

I hate to mention his name - but this brings to mind Gary Glitter's (and the Glitter band's) musical style from way-back-when.

REALLY catchy - LURVVE it!

The Rammstein is ok. I can see where you could get that feel from the song, but I personally don't make that connection. The hook is the only thing that made it ok for me.
Not a big fan of his at all.

Same for Opeth. I really don't generally like them, but I do really like that song you posted.
So much so, I'm gonna try and talk one of my friends at faire into adding it to his songbook.
(he plays a 12 string acoustic in the lanes. Usually traditional material, but he will throw in a few newer songs that fit the 'mood'. His voice and style of play would be awesome on this song.

And Airbourne continue to show why they are the ones to take over from AC/DC

The new album is awesome, and this track is a cheeky little number - the video plays a bit like a game (complete with fiery lyrics) and brought a wee smile to my face :D

OMG!

New Papa Roach

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq4HNymsoZY

It sounds sooooooo good.
I hope the whole new album will be like this.
Not quite old-school but so much harder than the last couple albums.
It's got the mid-2000's feel that I love so much about this band.
