Thanks to the latest Captain Marvel "TV spot" trailer - a reminder of a song I'd not heard in years (but loved when it was out) . . . :D

Forgot to post this yesterday . . . yesterday being the 40th Anniversary of the release of "Lovedrive" (Feb 25th 1979).

This was the album that first introduced me to the Scorpions. Every song a classic - not a mediocre one in the bunch.

Happy day indeed (but FORTY years !!!!! - damn !!!!! )

Sorry buddy - one of the few Halestorm songs that I REALLY dislike. They sent out the link to the registered fanbase on Thursday.
    • (* The video is OTT cheesy too - and NOT in a good way *)
Appreciate the thought though :thumb2:

And this is one that I really love.
The tempo, the pacing, the vocals, even the video, I love everything about it.
I think what I really enjoy about it, is that Lzzy doesn't overpower everything else in the song.
She has a habit of grabbing most of the attention in their songs, but this one has a really nice balance where everyone gets to shine through.

And OTT cheesy is my catnip. :D

Well - seems like we don't have any Whitesnake fans on the board any more - excepting yours truly of course - but I don't care . . . posting this anyways !!!!! :bgrin:

THIRD track from the upcoming album - "Hey You (you make me rock)".

I wasn't that impressed with the 2nd track they uploaded (Trouble Is Your Middle Name), but this is more like it :)

Sorry Spike...
I'm taking Vicious over Shut Up & Kiss Me hands down - LoL!!!
I agree with Trev on his review of it, and in my opinion, goes
for the whole album. When I first got Vicious I was surprised
how different it was from their previous stuff, but quickly grew
on me and I listened to it many, many times for a few weeks.

But look at the bright side, I agree with you on the video...
A bit OTT, but following the video for Do Not Disturb (which I like),
I'm not that surprised.

Well - I can't expect you to be right every time Matt :) - and the bright side is the Vancouver Halestorm gig in 3 weeks time :D

Glad this got some attention. Reminded me to listen Vicious again :)

This one caught my attention today at work.

Ozzy - Lightning Strikes
I forgot how powerful that simple riff is. Especially when you crank the volume and the radio station you listen to has a much better mix than the audio on these youtube videos.

    • . . . and the repeating lyric/refrain in the Whitesnake song I liked -
            • "Lightning strikes me when I feel your touch Your love burns me to the bone"
                • Coincidence - I think not  (Trev's a closet Whitenake fan!)

Bark At The Moon & Ultimate Sin are my fave 2 Ozzy albums - but this track was always a bit of a "throwaway" for me (my least fave on the album).

Fave tracks from Ultimate Sin would be "Killer Of Giants" (gives me chills every time I hear it), closely followed by "Shot In The Dark" and "The Ultimate Sin".

I won't argue about that. I think those songs are awesome, and better than Lighting.
But, I also hear those songs all the time on the radio. Can't remember the last time I heard Lightning. So, that was one of the reasons it made a great impression on me.

I have that problem with a lot of great songs. Listening to the same classic rock station for 8 hours a day because that is the only one that comes in at work tends to make you numb to some of the songs after a while.
I could happily go a few weeks without hearing Crazy Train, Livin After Midnight, Doctor Feel Good, RocknRoll all Night, Dirty Deeds, Sweet Child of Mine, Schools Out, Iron Man, Still of the Night, Signs, Rock You Like A Hurricane, etc.

Totally agree with you.

I don't listen to the radio in Vancouver - the only "rock" (I used the term VERY loosely) station is "Rock 101".

Everybody jokes they got the name because that's the number of songs they have on their playlist.

I'll admit that most of their hosts being assholes didn't help either :)

I am extremely lucky on the radio front.
We have the aforementioned classic rock station. Which, while I hear a lot of the same songs daily, they rarely repeat any one song during the day.
So I get a lot of deeper cuts as well. And it isn't pre-programmed. They play what the DJ wants to play, or what they get requests for.
Same goes for my favorite station. Unfortunately it doesn't come in at work. They play a great mix of classic rock and new stuff, and everything in between.
Then when I want a change of pace, I have 2 local college stations. Not as great as they used to be, but still play a good mix of things at the right time of day. (it really depends on what student DJ is on the air)
I also have a good station out of London I get most of the time. (their signal isn't as strong as it used to be for some reason)

Radio is how I get most of my exposure to new groups and new releases.

Bloody hell - where DID the years go !?!?!??!?!

40 years today since the release of Thin Lizzy's "Black Rose" (April 13th 1979).

This was the album that followed there career-making 1st double live album "Live & Dangerous" (released June 2nd 1978).

Both those albums were very nearly worn out via HUNDREDS of plays in the initial 5 years after release, and I was a fan for LIFE from L&D onwards.

Still miss the talents of Phil & Gary to this day :( - but SO grateful for the memories and their music

This was a PERFECT album – a great variety of styles, and not a bad track among them.

Hit #2 in the UK album charts and the window displays FILLED pretty much every record-store you could find :D
