1st balcony, 2nd row, dead center!!! Pretty much best seats
in the house because the floor was general admission.

Glad you saw a good show - I expect to see one too. I've got balcony dead center here at the Stifel Theatre only in 7th row. Can't wait!!

Had a great time at the show last night (Tuesday)
Actually got my show review posted to my website (faint)
http://www.tylisaari.com/misc/shows/pr19.htm

For those that don't want to read the whole thing.
Pleasantly surprised by Asking Alexandria
Thoroughly enjoyed and rocked out to Papa Roach (even some of the new stuff)
Shinedown was good but would have been more enjoyable if I were sitting in a seat and not standing in the pit bored.

Glad you enjoyed the gig(s) :)

Oh wow!
That looks like it sounds amazing (much like the Warner Theater near me)
Going to be an amazing show.

That was all from the gig. It was awesome!
To give an idea where I was at

If you can see the circle pit in that poor lighting, I was right on the far edge of it. Directly across from the camera taking the video.
Just about where that crowd surfer appeared from. I lost count of the crowd surfers that went over me after the first dozen.

Glad you enjoyed your show Trev and sounds like you're gonna have a good time at yours Ian!! I just got tickets for Alice Cooper/Halestorm for a July show at our outdoor amphitheatre. Got them on sale first day for $15 a ticket for lawn seats. Since I just saw them both indoors at a smaller venue I opted for the cheap tickets. Plus the lawn is fun in the middle of summer. I figured we would most likely get to go backstage again anyway - I'm gonna try to see if we can meet Halestorm too. We have a ton of concerts coming to St. Louis area this summer. Sucks they all go on sale about the same time!!!

Great news!
I saw the tour announcement and was tempted. But the fact that they aren't coming anywhere near me, and that it is an outdoor arena show kept me away.
I prefer both bands in a closer, indoor setting.

I am still debating if I want to go see Tesla next month. I'll have to see if I can find some recent videos to see how they are sounding these days. Used to love them when I saw them in the 80's.

I finally got more reviews done on my website.
When I did the most recent one, I realize just how far behind I was on my website.
Figured I needed to fix that. So I decided to do as many as I can without getting bogged down processing all the photos I still have untouched on my hard drive.

In the process I realized one of them, I never even posted a quick review of here.
From back in April when I was really sick.

Yeah, the only reason I bought the tickets is because they had such a cheap deal that first day. I saw Tesla lasy year but was at an outdoor show. They did sound pretty good though. Only had about a 30 minute set though. they are probably worth seeing if the tickets are priced right and its indoors. I'll have to check out your site when I get a little free-time later.

Yeah.
Indoors. Small theater. Two other bands I've never heard of on the bill.
But it is a Friday night, and tickets are like $50.

So, I am still deciding.

Made my decision.
Watched a few videos.
First one kind of made me cringe.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJVHS_gGRwU
His voice did not sound all that good. Wasn't looking good for wanting to see them

Then I found a video of a whole show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybPRfiw6bw
And though his voice isn't as good as it used to be, it wasn't as bad as the other video.
And the rest of the band seemed livelier and more entertaining.
So, I thought 'I just might do this'

Then I kept the video running.
And I realized, while I do like Tesla, I don't think I like them enough to enjoy an hour and a half of them.

So, not gonna go.

LOL - OK Matt, Steve, Trev and anyone that lurks but doesn't post about their closet Halestorm appreciation . . .

It's midday here in Vancouver, and haven't been out of bed long, so my head/hearing is still a bit fuzzy.

I'll come back and edit this post when I've woken up properly - but for now . . .
  • Without a doubt - the BEST gig I've been to in all the time I've been in Canada (19 years).

Probably the best since the mid-80's if I'm honest.

This is one of those posts where I will run out of superlatives.
    • • Perfect venue
      • Perfect sound
      • Perfect seats - we were (at most) 15-25 feet away from Joe & Lzzy
      • Well-behaved patrons / no stumbling drunks / no dodgy cigarette smoke (of ANY kind)
        • . . . and the band - I have NEVER seen Lzzy & the boys on such good form.

The setlist was amazing (I'll share that later), and every song was performed with precision, emotion, and passion.
  • • Lzzy is a goddess and looked STUNNING (I don't usually look at her that way - but OMG!) Her voice brought me to tears several times (so not ashamed to admit that)
    • Joe was relaxed and totally in his element - he's an awesomely talented guitar player
    • Arejay is an ANIMAL (in fact he's as close to the muppet character as anyone I can imagine!) - an octopus on sterioids and SO co-ordinated
    • Josh is that stable backbone that all bands need - not flashy - not in-your-face - just THERE and solid (and smiling!)
This is the 3rd time I've seen them live in Vancouver (others were Sept 2010 and Nov 2015) - they were GREAT then - but this was at a whole new level. The amount of touring they do, along with ever-improving musicianship means they are SO tight.

Even though it wasn't sold out (choice of venue being off the beaten track), the band enjoyed themselves (smiles everywhere) and were gracious, charming and professional.

I can't think of anything that would have made it better - other than the set being another 30mins longer :)

BONUS - I videoed the WHOLE evening - blurry freeze-frame from my camera below - but you get the idea. This is 1:1 - no zoom while filming - that's how close we were. The sound and picture on the vid is GREAT!

At some point, I'll see if I can create a YouTube account to upload song by song.

I really . . . TRULY . . . have no idea why these guys are not massive superstars - they are better than pretty much ANYONE else out there.

This was a night I will remember for the rest of my life - and it will always bring back smiles - no question - Halestorm rule - PERIOD.

Chills (all over again) :bgrin: :bgrin: :bgrin: :bgrin: :bgrin:

Can I get a... Can I get a AMEN!!!

Glad you had a great time, they truely ARE a premium act.
Totally agree with you on the "why aren't they more popular"
comment, but to be honest, they are probably better off that
way. Mega popularity "can" create mega egos, and band-wise,
we all know what that leads to.

We will be seeing them in August with Alice Cooper.
Must confess, we are going just to see Halestorm - LoL.
I was never an AC fan, and have never seen him live,
but with HS as a co-headliner, and the venue literally less
than 10 minutes from my house, it's a no brainer!!!
For the record, we will stay for AC, just don't know how
long we will last as we're seeing KISS the night before!!!
Then, to REALLY test my 52 yr. old concert stamina, I'm
taking my wife to see Keith Urban in Atlantic City two
nights later... UGHHH (in a good way - LoL)!!!

Glad you had a great time Ian!! Its always nice to have one of those memorable concerts - years from now the memories will make you smile.
I'm seeing Halestorm again July 25 - hope the weather is good that night.
Matt - do stay for Alice - I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Between him and an extremely tight band I think you will enjoy it. Also enjoy KISS the night before (just hope Paul doesn't have any obvious lip-syncing accidents to mar your experience).

I'm going to see Ace Frehley next Saturday night (May 4). He is headlining a show with a couple local opening acts, then Starz and Angel. It will be at a smaller outdoor venue here that I've never been to yet so hopefully the sound will be ok.

Trevor - did you see that Nita Strauss from Alice Cooper is playing at a club in Louisville that Friday night of Wonderfest weekend? Only about 5 minutes away just north. Too bad there is so much going on at the hotel that night, I may have considered going to see her band play.

Yeah. I never post about my love of Halestorm.
Or Papa Roach
Or Iron Maiden

I can totally agree with that analogy. Though I am not sure about the coordinated part.
He did break his seat during the second song when I saw them. :D

Glad you got to experience an awesome show.
I agree your seats were great from the photo you posted.
Looking at the setlist

It does look really good. (though I am sure you were bummed they didn't play Vicious :P )
