So back we come to the "What song caught your attention today""Halestorm" thread . . .
New single thrown out there today.
100% agree with the sentiments from Lzzy, AND her lyrics, but the song didn't reach the heights they are capable of. It's OK, but nothing special (excepting Lzzy's extended final breathing/screaming of "steeple" - wow!)
"IT STOPPED RAINING IN MY HEAD TODAY..."
"THE STEEPLE" IS A TRUE REFLECTION OF WHAT MUSIC MEANS TO ME.
DURING OUR TIME IN PURGATORY, FACED WITH AN UNKNOWN FUTURE, I HAD TO REDISCOVER WHY I STILL LOVED MUSIC, WHY THERE WAS A HOLE WITHOUT LIVE SHOWS, THAT COULD NOT BE FILLED WITH ANYTHING ELSE.
THROUGH WRITING THIS SONG, I FOUND MYSELF AGAIN, AND WAS REMINDED OF WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT.
THIS MUSIC IS OUR LIFE SOURCE, OUR SURVIVAL TOOL, OUR COMMUNION, OUR SANCTUARY AND OUR IDENTITY.
I INVITE YOU TO SCREAM THIS ANTHEM WITH ME, AND GET TRANSPORTED BACK TO THE FIRST TIME YOU WERE STRUCK BY THE POWER OF MUSIC.
REDEMPTION'S HERE AT LAST, BACK WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, IN THE PLACE WHERE GOD AND THE DEVIL SHAKE HANDS.
This is my kingdom
This is my cathedral
This is my castle
These are my people
This is my armor
This is my anchor
It’s been a long road
Outta hell up to the steeple
For this is my church
And these are my people
Hey. guess what? We don't agree. :p
I think it is a great song.
I think it is exactly what they intended it to be. A good solid rocker that will kill at the live shows. This song just screams for the crowd to sing along.
It's not too technical or taxing so is should be a great song to play around a bit on stage and play to the audience during the performance.
I look forward to listening to this in the car. I think it will be a great road tune as well.

And so it continues - another great track from Wig Wam from part way through Peacemaker S01E07.
So "up", so cheerful, just makes me smile from ear to ear.
How the heck I'd never heard of this band before the TV show escapes me!
Slinging a little paint on an old closet find this afternoon. Needed a little music to set the mood and found this. My fave Doors song! Interesting listen that makes me appreciate it even more.
I haven't been this mad-keen about an album since last years "Senjutsu" by Maiden . . . so I'm thinking Trev will LOVE this
I've just ordered the limited edition transparent blood-red vinyl from Sweden (their home country) . . . the last one I managed to get in that colour was Judas Priest's "Killing Machine" released in 1978 !!! (shipping was cheaper on that since I only had to pay 2-way bus fare!)
Heavy Metal Spike wrote:So - following rumours yesterday (real or otherwise) from the band themselves that they are considering changing their name to something more "politically correct" (yeah - not sure THAT will happen) . . .
Well, the rename actually happened a few weeks back
But way more importantly - we have a new single released just yesterday . . . (man I wish I was better at languages - those German sections have me stumped - but I get the gist )
These guys are touring all over the place right now - but no effin' dates in Canada (yet)
I knew about the name change (which doesn't bother me at all, I get why they did it, and like the choice they settled on)
Didn't know about the new song.
I like it.
It's not as good as some of the previous masterpieces but it is still catchy as hell, and the video is funny.

It reminded me most of "We've Got The Moves"
As various reactors have posted - they have a formula - and it works - why go off the rails?
They are cheerful, high-octane, in-your-face, smile-inducing, head-bopping FUN (with a capital "F"). What's not to like ?!?!?!
The album is all over the place as far as style goes. So, it is taking me a while to figure out what I like and what I don't. Trying to give each song at least 3 plays to make sure what I feel the first time is true and to give the lyrics a chance to sink in.
So far
Ego Trip
I Surrender
Kill The Noise
No Apologies
are my favorites with
Unglued
Leave a Light On
leaving a pleasant impression on me, but the lyrics haven't really grabbed me yet.
The songs have a more serious feel to them, so the lyrics really have to carry the load.
I am currently 5 tracks in. Nothing I dislike so far. Only one that has really caught my interest though has been Call Me Little Sunshine.
Will see what the rest of the album has in store for me a little later.

That was the one that originally caught my attention . . . via one of those devilish (pun totally intended) YouTube sidebar links when the single came out.
Thought you might have an affinity for "Hunters Moon" (which was the 1st single) given the movie it came from
I can see "Spillways" being the next single . . . but having said that . . . there are SO many to choose from on this album.
If it turns out you're not as keen on the album as a whole as I am - so be it - I can cope with any negative waves today as my vinyl copy arrived in the mail this-morning !!!! . . . it's gorgeous !!!!!!! . . . cue one VERY happy Metalhead!
THIS is the song I've been listening to, from the latest (and greatest) album by "Kathy and The Kilowatts" featuring our own Bill "Monster" Jones on lead guitar and his lovely better half Kathy on vocals. Enjoy the music video - its pretty cool!!!
