Enormous talent, but little (or no) ego. At least none that I remember hearing about. I've always thought of the Heartbreakers as the CCR of the 80's and 90's. Tom's music spoke to everyone, and was for everyone. I never met him, but it almost feels like I've lost an old friend from high school...

Like many, I grew up with his music. To lose him takes away another part of my life.

Ya I hear ya.
Heard Danny California by The Chili Peppers today on the radio and remember when everyone told Petty to sue he said it's a good tune and to leave them alone. Cool guy.

There are a lot of good Petty playlists on Tidal if you have that.

He was definitely one of the very cool "rock stars."

His part in The Postman was great.

“I know you; you’re famous.”

Petty’s reply? “I was once—sort of.”
