Thanks for the "heads-up" Trev.

That 1st part was amazing . . . it says something for the quality of their music and the effect it has had on me my entire life, that even though they only included 2 or 3 notes from "Fear of the Dark", it was enough to have me literally shaking in my seat. I love these guys.

There's a "part 2" as well  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBn7PHpevfI . . . which I'm just off to watch now.

(* EDIT *) . . . Part 1 was the better of the 2, but DAMN I want that sweater !!!!! (not that I "do" sweaters - but it'd be great as a hoodie too!)

Yeah. I hadn't seen the part 2 until a little bit ago.
Fun, but not as great as part 1.

Still nice to see the behind the scenes.

Not sure how you feel about the comedian Bill Burr, but I found part of his podcast of him talking about seeing Maiden a couple years ago.

I've heard/seen a number of clip of his - he often skirts (& crosses) the bounds of political correctness - but like I'm going to be bothered by that :D

I had NO idea he was a rock/metal fan though.

Loved the enthusiasm that came though on this, funny stuff too, my fave bit was "You know the way a drunk person walks . . . it's like watching a bat fly . . . you don't know what the **** they're doing . . . "

I enjoyed that - thanks for the link bud :thumb2:

Yeah, Bill's a drummer, and has been learning to be a pilot.

I have loved Bill for years, because he is so relatable. And because he will take on the most hot-button takes on things, and somehow makes it so people still don't want to lynch him.

Maybe something to do with a combination of the relaxed delivery, charm, charisma etc. - plus CLEVER funnies will usually win people over (bit like Ricky Gervais and several others of that ilk).

This is good for a bit of a laugh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOzvCWsV6Js

I whole bunch of reactors (most of which I have never heard of) reacting to Hallowed Be Thy Name

I guess there is a reason I gravitate to only small circle of reactors that actually add something to their reactions.

STILL one of my top-10 fave tracks from them after ALL THESE YEARS (40 and counting!)

Having something hit you like this - not picking a song to hear, but clicking on a link - certainly pulls out the raw emotion . . . first couple of bars and (as tends to happen with me) I get that condition best described by it's Latin title: Hairus Standonendus.

Always a joy to see people who somehow appear to have missed out on stuff like this, react in such a positive way.

This world has has a higher percentage of $hitty people than it deserves, but it would be a damn site WORSE without metal/rock.

Second day running that someone on the Clubhouse has "started" my day off with a huge jolt of positivity - thanks Trev

PS: The uploader did a phenomenal job editing this together - wow!

I agree.
I have heard this exact version I don't know how many times over the years.
But hearing it again, just gets everything pumping and the excitement building.

OMG - only the 5th band to ever get this honour  https://www.ironmaiden.com/news/article/rm-stamps

One of the easiest decisions to order EVER for me - I mean - of the 8 "main" stamps, I was at TWO of those gigs, and they both have very special memories . . . the Vancouver Canada one in 2010 was just after my Canadian metalhead friend Corey (a massive Maiden fan) had died, and the 2018 gig in Birmingham UK was Bruce's 60th Birthday AND the last concert my Sister was able to attend, just 17 months before she left us. It's bittersweet just typing this.

And then we have the 2001 "Rock in Rio" - which without a doubt sits at the very top of my list of concerts I wish I'd been at.

The question is . . . which set(s) to order?

I knew about the stamps.
Just didn't realize there were so damn many options. It's ridiculous!

Yeah - it took a while for me to dig through the list & narrow-down choices.

The "standard" PRESENTATION PACK was a no-brainer, but I decided that out of all the other "upgrades", the framed set was the most reasonable option (I'd have liked the gold & platinum limited editions, but prices were getting a bit silly for a set of stamps!)

So that was £17.70 ($29.54 CAD) presentation pack + £59.99 ($100.13 CAD) framed + £14.00 ($23.37 CAD) S/H to Canada . . . Total of £91.69 ($153.04 CAD).

That framed thingy had better be decent AND with glass or it'll go back for sure (that's why I paid to get it shipped to Canada rather than the UK - I want to see it in-hand as the description seems to be almost intentionally vague & lacking in detail).

I STILL can't believe that of the THOUSANDS of concerts Maiden have done over the last 47/48 years, they pick TEN, and I was at 2 of them, and they were so important to me, and I would have done anything to attend 1 of the others (STILL my fave live DVD) . . . no way I'd have bet on the likelyhood of that happening !!!!! It's been quite the year (and-a-bit) for Maiden stuff.
  • • The basic stamp set turned up in perfect condition on Feb 2nd.
    • The framed set finally shipped March 2nd.
    • We BOTH have the "minis" statues that have an estimated ship date of June.
    • And now, after 23 years, I finally find a reliable seller with a MINT CONDITION "Brave New World" picture disc at a reasonable price

I was so excited about the prospect of getting this, I actually got up at 7:30am this-morning (I usually lie in on a Sunday morning) to watch the auction end at 8am my time.

Needless to say, I was floored to get it at the opening bid price given what these tend to go for in this condition Image

Just has to ship from a very nice lady (we exchanged messages before the auction ended) in York, UK, to me (possibly direct, possibly via my parents - we're negotiating now).

SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy Image Image Image Image

Congrats on that Spike.

Glad I never got bit by the PD bug. I have a few of them from the 80's that I found in record shops, but never pursued any others.
The prices they command are eye-opening at times.

Ta muchly.

It will be my FIRST. There are TONS that Maiden released, but none have really appealed other than this one.

There are plenty of albums I'd happily buy as picture discs, but don't exist (like MOST of Motörhead's catalogue!)

I've started paying the extra for vinyl lately (especially if it's coloured stuff) as I feel guilty getting to hear releases for free via YouTube etc., so even though vinyl is more expensive than CD's, I just appreciate it more (cos' - well - 80's memories!)

And the history behind this one (for the entire family) is so strong that I HAD to buy it. We emigrated to Canada in June 2000 just after this was released - so obviously had other things on our minds when it was originally available :) Combining the fact that (to us) this is Maiden's "return to glory" (we still think this is one of their top 3 albums) with the relevance of the title given our emigrating, it has always held a special place in our hearts.

Ma wee lad (not so small these days!) has kindly chipped in part of the cost as part of my belated Christmas present . . . which makes it even more special :cloud9:

I do rank that album very highly. It's definitely top 5. I can't really rank more than that, as the top 5 are constantly swapping positions.
The five are
TNOTB, POM, DOD, BNW, IM
with
SIT, SSOASS, PS, TBOS, Killers rounding out the top 10.

Just checked. The four picture discs I have are
Powerslave
Stranger in a Strange Land
and two different interviews. One of them is saw shaped.

This got me to thinking, I really should work on that section of my site. I still don't have any of that stuff up on there yet.

Yeah - my top 5 (in chronological order) were EASY to choose, and would be:
    • • 1982 - The Number Of The Beast
      • 1984 - Powerslave
      • 1986 - Somewhere In Time
      • 2000 - Brave New World
      • 2021 - Senjutsu

Couldn't decide on the rest to make a top 10 as the top 5 are such phenomenal standouts.

PS: The framed stamp collection turned up yesterday morning - glass completely smashed, because they only used shredded paper (not bubble wrap), and it was in a box that wasn't thick enough to offer the level of protection it needed  Needless to say, I'm in touch with the Royal Mail's "customer service"
