We've had a nice little stretch here with like ZERO drama.
It's been really nice.
And we are going to make some changes to hopefully keep things like this.

This announcement is to put everyone on notice about some new rules (changes to how rules will be enforced) and the reasons for them.

There is a small but annoying number of members of this forum who adhere to the letter of the rules but not the spirit of them. They make sure the content of their posts doesn't technically break any rules while in reality they are attempting to harass or bother other members, or stir up trouble.
This is not a new problem. We've always had minor annoyances throughout our history. But things have been getting progressively worse. So much so that we have decided to make some changes in the way that we handle such issues.

In the past we would only go on face value of what was posted. If the post didn't actually break any rules then we did nothing, other than to message people and ask them to please back off, and behave.

That is going to change. Now we will look at the totality of the situation.
Not just what is in that post, but any recurring themes with other recent posts.
Such as someone stalking another members posts and posting in those threads constantly to annoy them. That will be considered bullying / harassment. Regardless of how benign the posts are.

We will also consider situations we know of that have taken place elsewhere. We have tried to moderate based solely on what is posted on the forum. But too many have tracked too much mud into our house for us to turn a blind eye anymore. If crap is going down elsewhere and it spills over onto our boards, we are going to put a stop to it. Even if at face value it doesn't appear to break our rules.
This isn't going to apply to little spats and dust ups, but to overall treatment of our members and the atmosphere we are trying to maintain here.

We are not going to minutely define what is, or is not an infraction in these situations.
We will know it when we see it.
And when we see it, we will remove it. Either the posts, or the entire thread.
And the offending parties will receive a warning, or worse, depending on the severity and past history.
I know some of this breaks with long standing traditions of being totally above board and keeping things black & white. But enough is enough.

On the flip side, we are not going to spend our days trying to read-between-the-lines of every post. Or act on every cry of offense. We don't have the time nor the desire to go that far.
We are all adults here.
Sometimes people say things you don't like, or you took the wrong way, or you just don't like someone else so everything they do or say annoys you.
Get over it. There is no need to drag it into other discussions, or to keep harping on it.

We want to get back to having fun here.
And in order to do that we need to get rid of the drama and the people who can't resist dragging it here.
Some people think we need to be the hobby police, and try to save it from itself.
We Aren't
Some think we need to take a stand against this, or that, or dictate how producers should conduct business.
We Won't
Those aren't the reasons we are here.

We are here to provide a place for people to learn about kits and their history.
How to build them, how to make them, where to buy them.
Share scores, stories, build ups and works in progress.

In short, to hang out and have fun.

The only 2 things we actually take a stand on, are:
1 - No recasts!
2 - Don't rip people off!

Support the producers and sculptor that keep this hobby going.
Respect and be professional with the customers that fund your business.

Now go build a model and show us some pics of it.

I just spent two minutes looking for the LIKE button.

I like it! Some of the stuff here has discouraged a lot of GK folks I know (me, too) from coming here as much as we used to come here. This new enforcement will keep the tone here what it ought to be...fun, supportive, encouraging, positive. Thanks, Trev and the other mods, for what you do and what you are doing.
