I am sure no one noticed, but I haven't been on the board for the past week.
Haven't really been online for the last week.
That's because I broke my computer last Saturday morning.
I was watching some videos and the computer shut down due to overheating. It's done it a couple time the past month, so I figured it was time to blow out the heat-sync. I didn't feel like completely disconnecting everything and taking the whole tower outside to blow it out, so I just popped the cover off the side, undid the latch for the heat-sync and pulled it off.
It fought me a little bit, but I didn't think too much of it, until I got it out, and saw that the processor was still stuck to it
Seems the thermal paste I put on 9 years ago when I built the computer had turning into a rather stubborn glue.
Unfortunately, my first reaction was to try and pull the processor off the heat-sync. Bad idea. I damaged the processor.
Which meant the computer wouldn't work anymore.
I used the wife's laptop to track down a replacement. Which just got here today. I could have gotten a brand new one quicker on amazon, but it would have been 3 times the $50 I paid for a used one on ebay.
Since I don't really know most of my logins anymore I was pretty limited on the wife's laptop.
I know the important ones. The ones I don't use auto fill. Like my email, my bank account, my credit card, paypal, and ebay.
But that was about it.
Guess I should print out the text document I have with all my logins for all the other sites. In case that ever happens again.
I also don't like the wife's laptop. The keyboard is too small, and way too sensitive. The screen is too small. And the onboard speaker is crap. (I did watch some youtube videos)
On the bright side, the limited online time this week led to some model painting, and catching up on stuff on the DVR.
