SPAM
Seems we had a spurt of spambots getting in here.
Think it is all cleaned up now.
Took me a while to hopefully find all the fake registered accounts.
I tweaked the Q/A spam countermeasures in the registering process.
Apparently these bots eventually 'learn' the correct answers and store them in a database.
Hopefully, changing up the questions and answers will keep them at bay for a while again. This is the first change I have had to make to them since I started using them years ago.
My thanks to the rest of the staff that removed some of the posts, and to the members that PMed me so I saw the email and came here straight away after getting on the computer.

Re: SPAM
Wasn't just me.
Harry shut down a bunch of them.
I just went through and deleted them outright along with any posts they had made.
So far I whacked 55 accounts today.

Re: SPAM
Great job, Harry and Trevor!!! I usually jump on here at dead times in my office, and PM'ed Spock and Tay as soon as I saw. And man, did they pour in like Orcs at Helm's Deep.

Re: SPAM
Just an FYI...in the "Sculptors Forum" there is a thread by Miguel Zuppo for his latest sculpt; a WonderWoman piece, he does not use the "Post Image" button, but instead uses a service called "imgbox"...at least on my computer it tried to open some rather interesting secondary windows...

No problem here. Maybe it's browser related? - I use Firefox.

I'm curious, does Firefox also block the banner adds along the top or bottom of the viewing window (in "imgbox") as well?
But my point is if he would just use the "Add image to post" button that was added (thanks Trev.) this wouldn't be an issue at all.

No banner ads either. Just the picture (full screenshot below).resin addict wrote:I'm using Microsoft "Edge".

Seems there are quite a few people that still haven't realised about the picture feature Trev added 2 years back. I guess it's a bit like using any software - you focus on the bits you use and have blinders on for the rest of the screen.
One of us should warn Miguel on his thread - you OK doing it or do you want me to?
