SD T-Rex from Wonderfest 2018

#1 Post by Jon LeGrand »

Unfortunately, I failed to get the sculptors / Producers name, can anyone help me out there?
I got it at Wonderfest 2018 in the dealers room, the gentleman was from Japan. Love the sculpt, I hope to find a suitable Kong to pair with it, I may sculpt a tree to put Ann Darrow in. Or it would be cool to have a triceratops in this style too!
Anyway, here is my build up of him.

I know which dealer you are talking about, but have no idea who it was.
Back side of the room, down a bit from Cultman on the opposite side.
He also had a wicked teddy bear I was looking at.
If my program wasn't packed away, I could look it up. [drat]

Oh! Maybe I can find my program, or look on the site for dealers list! Great idea, thanks!

I like the look of this - the sculpt, the build-up and the paint job - NICE work all round!

Pretty sure I´ve seen this in the Members swap and sale.

I love this little piece the first time I saw a picture of it

I’d like to get one as well; very well done sculpt and a very cool SD style

Killer paint on yours ; the washes really give pop to it’s gnarly textures and form

Thank you! I wish I could find a Kong sculpt to match this design and size!

That’s what I was thinking this little guy needs. A SD gorilla/Kong would have to be a fantastic sculpt to look cohesive with this little gem, though

This little guy’s sculpting is so well done. Paint you rendered is fantastic, too

Thanks! Yeah I wish this same sculptor would do it, maybe he will be back this year with a Triceratops or Kong to go with it!

Jon - How big is this TRex in inches? There's got to be a Kong out there in some form to match it ...

Jon - Take a look at this figure, still available - it comes with a screaming face and a really, really nice looking Ann Darrow figure:

Here are a few photos from a Japanese listing that give you a better view of the Mezco figure - its a 7" figure, so it might just work!

Damn Jon - I never thought I'd buy another Kong figure, but after doing the above homework to try to find your TRex a partner - I wound up buying one myself!

(Well, its been a long tough week - so I treated myself) :rolf:

Vlad, he is about 7 inches tall, so I would think the Mezco Neca Kong figure would be about right at 6 inches tall, but I am not sure the style fits.

Ha, before I saw your other post I thought of this too! I do have one of these, the colored one, so it may work. I thought it was shorter, I will need to look again. I was going to pair mine with a Papo T-Rex figure, but maybe this would be a better choice. I still want to see if that sculptor comes back to WF this year with any more possibilities! Thanks Vlad, and hope you have a better week next week!

Yeah. I hope he's back too. Had some cool stuff, just didn't have enough cash to get everything I wanted.
