Accurate dinosaur skull and limb replicas

#1 Post by Strick67 »

I'm taking the opportunity to showcase my growing collection of 3D printed dinosaur fossil models.

All models are AVAILABLE ON SHAPEWAYS in a range of scales, you can pick your preferred size from the menu. The skulls have articulating jaws.
Modelled in Blender 3D, I'm aiming for museum quality accuracy with this set. Each piece is heavily researched using the most detailed reference I can source, mostly published science papers and high resolution photos of original fossils.

Hi T.M.G., know you well from the RPF, nice to see you here too. I found this site quite recently, there's some good model makers here. I log in occasionally to browse the work.

Thought I might as well add my new T. rex collection to this thread.

3D printed dinosaur skulls and bones at Shapeways

First 2 models in the collection are the skull and the foot. For some insane reason I've made them available in 7 scales from 1:32 to 1:10. The skull has a tension fit articulating jaw.
As usual, Russell at Mushroom Imaging did a superb job getting some good angles and capturing fine details.

Dual detail T. rex skull
This is the final model for the set and it's a combination piece.

Right side - Skull & neck vertebrae
Left side - Life restoration

Palaeontologists are currently debating whether theropods had lips and for this reason I've made 2 versions
Lipped version
Non-lipped version

I've only had the lipped version printed so far (we call her Scarface) but I hope to get the other version in the new year sometime.
